Okay, I know for sure that this is just an edit of a strip from a decade ago where he went around soaking cigarette smokers. His suit had the no smoking symbol, and of course the masks have been added, but otherwise the strip was identical.
Masks don’t protect the wearer from COVID, they protect others from catching COVID is the wearer has it but is without symptoms. Wearing a mask (and wearing it PROPERLY!!!) is being considerate of others. If you’re not considerate of others, especially those who are older or prone to illnesses what are you but worthless trash?
Masks need to cover the nose. Sure, covering the mouth alone is better than nothing, but barely. And wearing it under your chin — as I’ve seen some do even indoors — is worse than useless.
When I see people incorrectly wearing their mask I wonder: Are they stupid or cowards? They don’t know how or they think they shouldn’t wear masks and this is their “courageous stand against tyranny” (since taking it off would expose them to minor consequences).
There are kids I work with that wear what LOOKS like a properly worn mask but if you looks close, it has a slit cut in it so their nostrils aren’t covered. You know, since masks are required over the mouth and nose. Then again, it’s amazing how many so called adults “can’t tell when their mask isn’t over their nose.” Yeah, right. And almost every day we get another letter informing us that yet another student or teacher has tested positive.
If your nose isn’t covered, you aren’t wearing a mask. Covid is a respiratory disease and highly infectious. Looking for a way around wearing it or calling it a face diaper is only going to lead to more deaths. Stay home as much as possible, wear your masks, and live to see your family grow up. Your selfishness might go home on some tired adult who ends up with dead children due to your desire to mock a deadly pandemic. Proud of that thought? Imagine millions of dead children. Think twice before you consider a properly worn mask inconvenient. If you are concerned about it getting wet as can happen in warm weather, etc, carry spares. I do. Preferably washable ones. Ideally, wear two at a time. We aren’t going to get past this by a “miracle.” It will take cooperation. Do your part.
We were voting today and saw 2 men with their nose hanging out. I love how you brought attention to this. Wearing your mask like this makes it irrelevant! Thank you for all you comic strips That bring attention to the importance of wearing

unless those citizens were asthmatic or have some other medical condition, there was no reason to soak them

For those who haven’t heard, there has been a major medical discovery; the nose is actually connected to the lungs, and some people breath through it!

I had a problem with my mask sliding down to uncover my nose. I sewed a one inch by 1/4 inch dart where it goes over my nose, and that fixed it.
