I’m with her, except I use Windex instead of smelly bug spray. The ammonia in Windex kills most bugs, and it doesn’t leave the terrible smell that bug spray does…
We try really hard to not use (anti-)bug spray. Of course, we also are people who carefully catch spiders and take them outside. (Well, sometimes, I just put one end of a towel into the sink to help them get themselves out.
As seasonal temperatures begin dropping, and spiders find their way inside, I find a DQ sundae container is the best way to trap, secure the carry them to vegetation along the river; too far away for them to find their way back! Got one awaiting transport after daylight.
The pool that I swim at gets invaded by box elder bugs every fall. I whacked one with one of my fins as it was crawling towards the water the other day.
If she’s using the pine scented Raid, at least it smells really good. Seriously, sometimes I want to spray it just for the scent. It smells like Irish Spring.
“For positive bug killing…get the Whammo Combi Hammer/Fly Swatter…you can kill flies and drive 16d nails.” Available wherever fine hand tools are sold.
I’m so different! I try to get them outside! Even saved a few from drowning. There is a type of flying beetle in the back yard. When they flip over they can’t get back straight and I’ve saved a couple of those. Can’t help it.
Apparently bug spray doesn’t work that well on spiders. I know from experience. My Dad sprayed the bathroom with it when a big spider hid itself and we couldn’t find it. Couple of days later it came out of nowhere when I happened to be in the bathroom.
My Arachnophobia only shows itself when the spiders are big. Small ones are fine.
As a kid – when discovering that you could improvise a flame thrower with Nair and a lighter I was the death to mosquitos until my Dad caught me and got a lecture on lighting things on fire, and the risk of the can exploding in my hand. So, as it turns out that spraying flying mosquitos with Nair that isn’t on fire was pretty effective – and perfectly acceptable to Dad.

A bug’s life is short anyway, why use your anger and ignorance to make it shorter?

I would have loved to see Opal do this to Mike Pence! LOL!

She wouldn’t have to do that if she had D.D.T. (Drop Dead Twice).

If there was a bee or wasp in the school, the teacher would spray it until it stopped wiggling. Some of the children too.

It’s overkill, but I do the same thing to a spider.

that’s my daughter’s reaction to a tiny spider. She has to call me in to deal with anything bigger than the end of an eraser.

Bugs breathe through their skeletons. Water doesn’t drown them but soapy water does. No need for pesticides.
