I know how you feel Janis. In my house, I don’t cook, but I am the clean up person. The cook likes to use every dish and pot in the house. It will be nice to be comfortable eating out again.
All of ours have been opened for months, and more and more eat in. 2 big ones closed for good including our local Perkins which I don’t know why. All of the wonderful Baker Squares a re gone : (
Applebees only just now have added high dividers to the backs of the booths so every table now can be used,
It will be another year at least before we venture into the restaurant wilderness. Masks and dividers help but people seem to be oblivious about how much air and how many times that air can be be diffused throughout the entire square footage.
It only takes one person about to be obviously sick or asymptomatic to infect a number of others in such an environment. It wasn’t coincidence that southern and southwestern states spiked when the heat went up and people went indoors for the A/C.
Life in northernmost Maine is kind of normal. Restaurants are open and most wear mask in stores…but not all stores enforce mask wearing. In all fairness, we are pretty well isolated here and social distancing was already the norm. Heck..that’s why my wife and I moved here ten years ago!
Say it again, Sister. I have dreams of a sparkling table, with snowy white linens, insanely delicious food, and an obsequious waiter whom I shall lavishly overtip.
Hubby doesn’t like to eat out, so this makes for a good excuse not to. BUT statistics show that at least half the people infected have eaten in a restaurant in the previous 14 days. He was saying he wasn’t going to a restaurant til all this is over, before this was published. And since you can’t eat with a mask on, it makes perfect sense. I am a firm believer in wearing a mask anytime you are around other people and until more people conform to mask wearing, this isn’t going to be over anytime soon.
Restaurants are open here awhile and movie theaters opened last weekend. Despite in normal times we eat out all lunches and 3 dinners and are about the biggest movie fans there are (record is 12 movies in 4 days) – and movies on TV do not count as movies to us – no way we are going to either for quite some time.
And I hate it when husband cooks – he cannot make anything which does not involve every pot we own and I have to clean up and wash the dishes. I figured out that these days I am making 2 different dinners for at 4 nights a week as I make one meal for him and a different one for me – just do to differences in what we want/like to eat – 2 of the other nights we eat frozen entree meals that we share (they are “for 4”) and the 7th night we take in Chinese food.

I’ve never liked eating out. I’d rather eat cold chili out of a can than eating out somewhere.

We love eating out and have not missed a day of going to a restaurant since all of this began.
So far, we are healthy, and I suspect that we will remain so.

To be a good cook you have to be a good dishwasher.

My sisters and I dine in a Chinese restaurant at an hour when we’re generally the only customers.

Maybe at the end of 2021 or even 2022 depending on how this next huge spike in infections works out.

Not going to a restaurant until I’m vaccinated. We get some carry out, but bring it home and put it in the oven before we eat it.
