I’m guessing Goldie isn’t going to be getting a speed radar “gun” any time soon. (I don’t know a non-weaponized term for that thing. Anyone?) At least, not on this story.

Although, that would be a cool thing to have for the next 2 AM Running of the Cats! Georgia? Any chance?

Slow chase: I’m going to stay just close enough to you (stalking the entire time) to let you know I’m chasing you, but not quite close enough to touch you or trigger a defensive reaction. You, on the other hand, are trapped into slowly trying to get away, because you know that if you move any faster, it will trigger a pounce!

As long as neither starts the rear end pounce quiver, I think we’re safe.

They don’t really want to get into it but they have to put on a show…..seeing Puck and Elvis doing this is a switch from Lupin and Goldie.

Hey, Elvis, it was Lupin that bopped your tail, remember? And he is likely to do it again.

Spouse use to belong to MMA (Modified Motorcycle Association). Every once in a while they would have contests. One of which was a Slow Race! Last one across the finish-line would win! Rules were… tires had to be fully inflated, can not put your feet down to keep the bike upright (on foot-pegs), must have engine running the entire time. Spouse had three judges criticize his winning stance. He described – they circled him three times… on foot!… before determining he was not cheating! That was a really good bike!

I think this one will turn out better than the one back in the ’90s when LA police were after Orenthal Julius Simpson who was trying to escape the law with his friend/associate/driver Al Cowlings.

BTW My cats do often slow down and get deliberate when they are angry and thinking about fighting, even before they growl or hiss.

Elvis looks angry, like my older cats Thomasina, Miss Hannah, and Opie (as orange as the kid in Mayberry) if they find out the younger Ms Pickles, Kimber or Kendra got all of the tuna water before they did!

OT: Has anybody out there been at any time been afflicted with a-fib. If so, what did you do? How did it turn out? If it was resolved, dd it return at some point. I’m asking because I started getting irregular heart beats, rapid heart beats, and a little difficulty breathing. It came on suddenly. I’ll call the doctor tomorrow and see what he says. Unfortunately, most doctors here in San Francisco are in lockdown and are not having face to face visits with patients. If I go to the emergency room, I’m afraid they’ll keep me in the hospital for a long time. Hospitals are dangerous these days and I don’t want to linger there. Please give me some info. Thanks.

In track cycling, match sprinters are required to maintain “at least walking pace”.

This rule was enacted because, in the highly tactical first lap when each rider may trying to force the other to start the sprint first (and thus draft and pass at the line), some were doing really long track stands and making the first part of the race take far too much time.

    Cats are definitely sprinters.

Go to the doctor pronto! I don’t have room here to list all the bad things that happen. I do not usually comment on the comics but I am a physician and this is urgent!

My mother has afib. It can often be resolved with medication. My mom also had an electric cardioversion to address one episode. It can return after it has been resolved. My mom has had three episodes over the past few years. As stated by others, your risk of stroke is increased during afib. The quicker it is treated, the lower the chances of a clot forming that could cause a stroke.

It’s important to get a diagnosis & be “followed” for your heart. An ER will keep you as short a time as possible. It can be controlled with medication. Each case is different; no one should generalize an outcome to you; only a specialist. Let us know, please. All the best!!!

I had one cat who was an amazing hunter. Watching him stalk was an experience in stop-action movement. He could freeze at any point without losing his balance. I know he killed over a hundred gophers and never ate anything but kibble. (Picture at left)

I had it 6 years ago. Medicine can fix most, but I had day surgery. St Davids in Austin specialized in it. Surgery at 9 am, left to go to our hotel at 6 pm. The only un nerving part was when they insisted on telling me what the were going to do. Could have passed on that. Huge improvement post surgery.

Is that a calculator? Doesn’t look like a speed gun Goldie’s holding in the last panel. Her time might be better suited investigating who booped Elvis’s tail, initiating this “fight” between Elvis and Puck. And then covering her whiskers when she reveals the culprit so he doesn’t know he’s been caught.

Is the purpose of the slow chase to enable the scientific label (in Latin) to hover in the air momentarily above each participant, a la Looney Tunes?

I just looked at the shelter cat tab. It was hard for me to read, even painful because it’s so true. I have always made a point of adopting older, special needs kitties who have lost their families. I feel so strongly about it that I am sure I must have been one of those kitties in a past life.

Will this be followed by classic Three Stooges fight where one cat puts a paw on the other cat’s head, and the other cat swings and misses?

Bing is my browser/home page when I turn on the computer. Every day they have a different background picture, most are incredibly lovely or incredibly cute. Then below the Trending News line, they’ll tell a little about the picture. Today is National Bird Day and they are showing a pair of endangered Red Fronted Macaws in flight.

“Quick Fact: According to the Avian Welfare Association, thousands of macaws and other parrots are taken from the wild each year to be sold as pets.”

And, no, I’m not planning on taking over the “Today Is . . .” Column. I just found this to be interesting and quite beautiful and maybe y’all will, too.

I remember getting a call at work from my mom wanting me to go by the house as soon as I had lunch or got off work. She needed me to pick up a few things because the doctor wouldn’t let her drive home to get them herself. I asked her what was going on and she said that her heart doctor wanted to admit her instead of letting her go home after her appointment. And why did he want to admit her? Because she had had a silent heart attack! I told her to stop arguing with the doctor and follow his orders. The next day she had a quadruple by-pass. She had had NO sign of a heart attack.

So I second, third, fourth, and fifth everyone else saying get to the ER NOW!
