No, you are not, Mr. Summers. You cherry-picked data (or, more likely, cribbed them from someone’s Facebook post) to fit your predetermined conclusion.
Lockdowns and masks between them have been the ONLY approach to slowing the virus. This has been proven ALL OVER THE WORLD.
Only 1% of those that get sick die…. that means that the “only 1% that died traced to restaurants”, indicate that 99% of those that ate at restaurants got sick, just didn’t die… great odds
I just unfollowed Dana Summers. This kind of crap echoes the criminal irresponsibility of Donald Trump. I hope others do the same to give him a message.
Following the science about the same as the dude on Facebook who is claiming the Nashville explosion was the result of a missile attack. Following the science, our nation is amazingly full of ignorant, gullible yahoos, and they are the people to whom you pander.
If they stayed in, how did they catch it? Oh right; others in the house didn’t stay in. How about following the complete picture? Cherry picking is not science. And lockdowns have reduced the peak leading to less death but thanks for playing.
Wait till Joe makes the observation that absolutely 100% of the deaths in America occurred in folk that do not speak Chamicruo. And.. those that do speak it never even got sick. Never mind the vaccine which, at best is ~95% effective.. learn Chamicruo.
First panel particularly misleading. This is probably linked to nursing home statistics, and where did those residents get the virus? From people who brought it to them, then they were stuck spreading it around to each other. All the rest of the panels are clearly skewed views of science.
Thank heavens most intelligent people who actually understand science/statistics stopped going inside restaurants where the chances of infections are PROVEN to be many times greater.
" …Lowest Risk: Food service limited to drive-through, delivery, take-out, and curb-side pick up.
More Risk: Drive-through, delivery, take-out, and curb-side pick up emphasized. On-site dining limited to outdoor seating. Seating capacity reduced to allow tables to be spaced at least 6 feet apart.
Higher Risk: On-site dining with indoor seating capacity reduced to allow tables to be spaced at least 6 feet apart. And/or on-site dining with outdoor seating, but tables not spaced at least six feet apart.
Highest Risk: On-site dining with indoor seating. Seating capacity not reduced and tables not spaced at least 6 feet apart.
In a September study, people who tested positive for COVID-19 were more than twice as likely as those who tested negative to report eating in a restaurant recently. Talking with someone who has COVID-19 for 30 minutes or longer—about the time between your bloomin’-onion appetizer and molten-chocolate dessert—more than doubles your odds of catching it.
There are lies, damn lies, and statistics. Just look at the countries that actually had lockdowns, it worked. The U.S. had a lame, half-hearted response and has, so far, managed to have the worst of both scenarios. We’re at 335,000 deaths and counting, untold millions dealing with the aftermath of having contracted COVID, and an economy that will continue to struggle until both sides of our government can work together and come up with a real plan. Again, look at the rest of the world.
The major problem is that the data relies on responses to the contact checkers and most people lie. Do you know anyone that actually has never gone out in nine months? Never went for take out, never went to the grocery store, never went out without their mask on – ever-. How about church? For that matter did the take-out get sanitized? I could go on, but the point is the data sucks and conclusions are pretty iffy.
Dana, it’s not about the science, it’s the stupidity of those who chose to ignore the guidelines. Countries whose people don’t see mask wearing as an infringement on their rights but rather a small sacrifice for the common good have faired so much better than we have.
boy your’e right steve…why don’t you go to a nice crowded restaurant, skip wearing a mask…then do a rave of a few bars…have a few drinks while you stand close to a bunch of strangers in that nice cozy enclosed bar…then take the subway home holding the pole with your unclean bare hand…don’t forget to not wash your hands…. and then finally go ‘towards the light’ in a few weeks…..you belong in 2020….
Before the virus hit myself and 9 friends would get together once a month and go out eating or gambling. Since then my nine friends got together in September to go out to dinner. I stayed home (heart ailment). All 9 caught the virus. Six had three weeks of being down, and three are still getting over it right now. They caught weaker cases and are glad that it’s getting over for them. But earlier today I had a business associate who caught the virus two weeks ago just passed. Respect this virus and follow the science.
PLEASE don’t muddy the waters with your brand of disinformation. Even things that don’t help a lot, save lives. Science is complicated. That’s why people study it for years instead of copying answers out of a tabloid. Isolation works, masking works, denial has not saved a single life.

Umm… actually, lockdowns HAVE stopped the virus. They take time, but they do stop the virus, just like NY in the Spring, not to mention foreign countries like China.
I’m not sure where Dana got the first two panels from at all. Can anyone link me the sources?
Dana, I guess you’re not smart enough to figure out that people who didn’t stay home and went to restaurants and such may not all have gotten sick, but brought the virus to more susceptible people who were trying to follow the health guidelines. By the way, the CDC never actually said kids should be in school. Trump’s lackeys corrupted the messaging to make it look like they were saying that. In countries where the lock-downs were supported by the populations, they DID work.

If all you count is deaths, you’re missing a LOT human suffering.
PS: Lockdowns have indeed stopped the virus. We haven’t had anything like a lockdown in the USA, though.

335,000 Americans dead from covid.
Summers celebrated because “We want them infected”.
Summers also believes that mandating a mask is tyranny, and also demands that martial law be declared.

Science says the virus should have been contained in January, the president lied and killed Americans.
Science says people should wear masks, republicans refused and killed tens of thousands of Americans.
Science says the Republicans and Fox news “herd immunity” is cruel and unusual and will result in millions of deaths of Americans.
Republicans don’t believe in science or reality, they still think they won the election and their covid spreading dictator is still king.
