Well, Aquarius made it back home and his “scenic route” didn’t leave Tiger Lilly very far behind him, I see. Even being so close, Tiger Lilly couldn’t risk tackling him and losing the balloon, but once the balloon is inside, there won’t be any fear of it escaping into the sky. He just has to figure out how to get inside without getting caught.
Aah. The safety and sanctity of home at last. If this place has an open door policy then I can see Tiger slipping in under the ruse of getting something for his head, but how does he get justification for wandering the halls looking for the guy who got Pouche’s secret merch ?
That must have been on heckuva scenic route Aquarius took to get home as it was a dark but not stormy night when he left the park.
What happened to big square-head crewcut guy? Is he now behind Tiger Lilly? He had been drawn looking like he was following Aquarius. Aquarius thought, “I feel like I’m being followed.” and Tiger wasn’t even close at that point – only crewcut guy.
After 46 years of anticipation when I saw the Rouges Gallery pictures of Pouch and Johnny Scorn in the large sized DC Flattop story, I was finally able to read the full Pouch 8.5 month epic through volume 26 of the IWS series. Pouch “essentially” got away 4+ times on actual charges of “failure to obey police”, “stolen diamond smuggling”, “concealed handgun” and uh assassination (never formally charged). The balloons and 15c hat do come into play in the original story, though he was busted by Lizz and Groovy using the balloons for crime.
While having been busted in the same park using the same balloon scheme seems a bit risque, the team has done a great job keeping this evasive character elusive. Did Gould let any other Grotesque off the hook as much as Pouch? Is he working alone? Tracy said himself Pouch would be helpless without a leader, after Pouch threw in with The Chameleon, Moleana and Johnny Scorn.
Today, a revelation is revealed (because that’s what revelations do) regarding Mel’s appearance
1-FRENCHY: Hello Mel? Why am I following this guy? It’s been so long, I forgot.
2-MEL T. FACE: To get my balloons back so I wouldn’t have to blow up more for today’s sales, dimbulb! Hydrogen ain’t free, ya know!
FRENCHY: Hydrogen? Isn’t that kind of flammable to be selling to little kids.
MEL: Yeah, but I like it because it doesn’t make my voice sound high and squeaky like helium does. Plus, it helped me quit smoking. You know, after that one time…
FRENCHY: I remember. That’s when your face melted.
Tiger will discover the bodies of Dicko and Sammy in the house, solving the mystery of why they haven’t appeared in the DICK TRACY comics for over 2 weeks. Great story guys, particularly keeping us apprised of what color that balloon is.
“You have to wait and steal it back” ..why would a guy who bought balloons come back outside with them? Pouch did not exactly say " Satisfaction guaranteed or money cheerfully refunded".
“The Customer” may yet play a significant part in this story. Likewise, I hope that Aunti Bellum finally sees the light of day, even if she doesn’t necessarily do much. Tiger Lilly, betimes, has been using his noodle as more than just a place to park his beret, and has realized that it would not be smart to have mugged Pinkie outdoors, where he might have lost all the balloons, including ⬅︎BLUE. But has he overestimated his chances inside Hippie House? Remember Ty? Cheesecake? And Aquarius himself? And a whole flock of distrustful hippies of the commune?
