my nephew, who’ll be starting college in the fall, says they had a couple of weeks of cursive writing when he was little but no one uses it. I find that sad.
I remember the tablet to practice cursive. You had 2 heavy lines to mark the top and bottom of the line for capital letters and a less bold one half way between for small letters. Ours opened from the top and made it easy for this left hander and it hasn’t been easy since. In college there were a limited number of left handed desks and you got there early to get one. You did not want to get caught on finals day writing a 3 hour essay with your left elbow hanging in the air at a right hand desk.
well OUR version of cursive is something you call Z̸̡͍̜̜͕͕̦̮̯͔̞̪̦͑A̶̢͍̻͆̃Ļ̸͓̟͖̣̳̯͉̞̟̫͕̙͈̇͆̿̄͊̓̓̆͑̀̈̌̕͘͠G̸̢̧͙͙͔̤̝̦̞͖̘̪͔̼̭̒̌͐̍̎̑̄̆̀͒͐͆̚͝͝O̷̥̲̓́̈͋͊͗̂̑̃͘͝ its a lot harder to write
I used to do that in grade school too. And when I had to write 100 times that I would not talk in class (or whatever other crime I committed), the “I” for each sentence was a big line down the left margin.

if I was told to cross a stream of cursive lower-case Ts (and Fs), I’d do one continuous line therethrough

Penmanship. Isn’t that a skill you need to be a buggy whip maker or TV repairman?

I never liked cursive lessons on school. Just because it’s beneficial doesn’t mean everyone will like it.

When you print a capital W, why is it called a “double u” and not a “double v”?

Sadly, my grandkids will never know the way words flow out of cursive penmanship, but they can type to beat the band.

I always loved having at least 2 t’s in a word so I could cross them with one continuous line (yup – pretty boring, I know)
