I don’t understand what’s happening in the strip or the comments but both seem to be reaching too far to try to entertain

I am baffled by the “poured root beer until we all turned the colour of mountain dew” line…

It happened in 10th grade, there was no root beer and there were no friends making up nasty names … but the story is based in truth.

P1 A spontaneous loofah session breaks out in the parking lot with Doug bending over and feigning polishing his goat so as not to attract attention

P2 We will both walk funny now, but you’ll be the one that has to the ‘splainen Doug

Look Doug ,in all reality , I’m angry that I’m getting played to announce girls games . This time I want some real revenge something that will make everyone know you don’t mess w VD.

P1- Appropriate that Dougie have a Flying J patch on his gearhead jacket. Vic and Doug are catching a buzz Queen Tessi could never provide.

P2- If I could relive anytime in my life, 7th and 8th grade would not be it. So many emotional and physical changes.

P3- Who delivered the root beer? Lucky Haskins’ girlfriend Clumsy?

P1, Yeah, Doug just like you and your goat.

P2, Not to mention dance funny.

P3, Now I’m wondering if Doug and Vic will be going to the prom together. Why they even finish each other’s sentences.

Fine. So tell Tessi that don’t got time to announce games for a handful of people and move on. HvB will hear about this, and then you and the school will have real problems buddy

My son was in a wheelchair. He went to his 8th grade dance with a couple friends, boys and girls. He “danced” by spinning around in his power chair on the dance floor. Those kids all had big hearts.

P1 – Who refers to their friends as their “go-tos”? Nobody? And why is Vic worried about his friends? He never hangs around anyone other than Doug anyway. And why the hell is Doug waxing his car at school?

P3 – For a second when he talked about “pouring root beer” I thought it was a callback to the Lucky Haskins story, and his friends were pouring root beer on Tessie’s head. Darn.

And speaking of pouring, it’s pouring jokes over at Mopped Up Thorp! Well would you believe, there’s a drizzle of jokes? How about a drop?
