Mahomes was roughed up last night, the Bucs D was on fire. The torch did not get passed last night, Mahomes did not necessarily take a step backwards but he did have his worst game in a long, long time; maybe back to his college years!
Some people couldn’t figure out who was responsible for the Pats’ six Superbowl wins out of nine appearances, Touchdown Tom or Bill Belichick. Hmm. Belichick was watching the Superbowl from his couch last night. Touchdown Tom was throwing touchdowns to two old retreads and winning his seventh Superbowl last night… with some help from a truly ferocious defence and some half-blind refs. Remember always, just to get there the Buccs had to beat New Orleans in New Orleans and Green Bay in Green Bay… in January. I think that the question’s been answered, and it ain’t Bill.
Touchdown Tom is, simply, the greatest. He’s better than Elway. He’s better than Montana. He has more rings than Elway and Montana combined. If he gets one more, you can throw in Roethlisberger as well. Mahomes has one ring. It remains to be seen if he’ll even get one more, much less the seven required to catch Brady.
The Pats should have paid him what he asked for, and got the guys he wanted. That’s what Tampa did.
Last night was not Mahomes fault. No matter how good a quarterback is, if your offensive I can’t protect you, and if your defense keeps screwing up opportunities, there is not much you can do.
That is very true. The Chiefs were their own worst enemy -esp. in the latter half of the second quarter. Have to get to work very early in the AM so I didn’t get to watch half-time or anything afterward. But Brady was also “on target” and played smart, his offense generally gave him plenty of time to throw, and the Bucs’ defense was doing its’ job, so mistakes cost the Chiefs dearly. For the Bucs, it was a fairytale game. First team to play in their home stadium during the Superbowl, and by default, first to WIN in their home-team at a Superbowl. For Brady, he is definitely in the record books. They have a heck of a lot to celebrate.
Old Man Brady took Kid Mahomes to the woodshed last night.
Yes, Passin’ Patrick has tremendous talent but he can’t carry an entire team – ask Tom Terrific about those years in New England when he was expected to.
Brady and the Bucs schooled KC last night and it was a joy to watch. And sorry, KC fans, but the officiating was bad for both sides, and your guys, out of frustration, made more unforced errors.
Credit certainly goes to the Bucs coaching staff for putting together an excellent game plan and sticking to it.
WAY OFF TOPIC techy talk: I refuse to pay for cable TV and I live in a rural area so there is no OTA TV. So I downloaded the CBS Sports app to my TV and I watched the Super Bowl via the Internet.
If ever a team let a QB down it was KC last night. I’m no Patrick Mahomes fan but I will be the first to admit that the kid has incredible talent and guts. And yes, if he can avoid injuries, he’ll wind up in the pantheon of great NFL HOF players. He did his damndest to win that game and although he posted the worst numbers of his relatively short career, he’s got nothing to be ashamed of. His receivers, his OLine, and the entire KC defense blew it!
I don’t know whether Britt Reid’s absence and pending problems resulting from the car crash Thursday affected the KC coaching staff and Papa Reid, or whether they were just cocky and complacent about beating a team they’d embarrassed during the season, but their game plan stunk! They hung Patrick Mahomes out to dry!

Patrick Mahomes is great and he might be the future G.O.A.T., but he’s got a huge hill to climb if he’s going to get there.

Although I’m always happy to see an “old” guy win, Mahomes made some incredible throws last night while in the grasp or a horizontal dive.

TB defense deserves the MVP award. (poor Bill – like most cartoonists, he has to draw his strips way in advance of events)

Well, Brady’s now got a seven year trophy hoarding streak.

Wonder how New England Patriots management are feeling today.

Sarina Williams is a true G.O.A.T. in that she wins on her OWN merits. Brady needs 21 other people to help him.

Last night’s game reminded me of the Peyton Manning versus Cam Newton match up in Super Bowl 50.
