It may be worth noting older people can have trouble with fingerprint readers if they want to use biometrics to, say, unlock their phones. Lotta unconscious bias in design.
That’s why you need to wear house slippers. Don’t go barefooted, even in the house, especially if you have children who will leave things on the floor.
Ah, yes. As a kid, I could barely feel it if I ran barefooted on gravel. Of course, it took a lot of practice to toughen up the feet. Now walking barefoot on concrete is no fun!
A petrified rice krispy is far more dangerous than a LEGO® I heard Bobby Goldsboro (“Honey”) relate years ago how he cut his foot on a rice krispy and ended up having to go to the hospital because of infection.
The first time I met my then fiancee’s grandmother we were taking her to lunch. She stumbled in her apartment as we were about to go and when she fell, the skin on the back of her hand split wide open. You could see the tendons clearly like in an anatomy book. We spent the morning at an urgent care clinic. I’m not that bad off, but my skin isn’t far off now.
My father-in-law, once he got into his 70’s, did that also. Slightest, bump, big bruise. Sometimes he would find his hand or arm bleeding and wouldn’t know what caused it. Now, I’m in my 70’s and am starting to suffer the same fate.

That can easily happen when you’re older. Every time I get the slightest little bump on the back of either hand it turns all black & blue.

I have noticed that I have difficulty with even the smallest bit of rock or seed inside my shoe with me.

Just one of the joys of getting older. It is not for the faint of heart nor for the thin of toe.

And that’s why you have to have kids when you are young. Imagine stepping on a Lego brick.

Does the thinner skin on your hands and feet balance with some thicker skin in your mid-section?

Which is why we remove some of the dangers in the house for our 77-year old dad!

What gets me is the small cuts or bruises I acquire without feeling any pain and not remembering where or how I got them.

I know many people of all ages who are pretty thin-skinned…. don’t want to start conversations with most of them. : /

I have often thought that guys who have covered themselves in a ton of tattoos when they get really old will they look like a crumpled road map? :-)
