I believe deep, complex feelings and Emojis cannot co-exist in any form of serious expression. One either cares deeply enough to write it out or one does not. Imagine Hamlet or The Sound of Music or The Road Not Taken using emojis. Vast emotional vacuum.
Since emoji meanings are unknown to me they are a waste of space. I feel no urge at all to try and decipher electronic drivel. I do use emoticons that I know and Iām sure there are more out there that I donāt.

In one (deliberately humorous) science fiction short story, future literature has become full of angsty pseudo-psychology, sex scenes, and lots of swearing. One of the main characters comments that the foul language in a particular book (that heās helping write) would āmake a bulldozer blush,ā and his fiancĆ©e says she doesnāt understand how a story could have intellectual content without obscenity and profanity.
āThe Critique of Impure Reasonā by Poul Anderson, 1962
