Reminds me of when our kids were little. I told them I didn’t care if they fell asleep, but they had to be in bed by a certain time. Period. I did however, draw the line on jumping on the bed lol Poor Elvis…
Time to flip your BCN calendar. This month it’s handsome Burt and Agnes. And a small “technical difficulties” with Lupin that I have on the coffee mug I’m sipping my hot morning coffee from right now. Plus Beatrix in a St. Catty’s Day shirt and Burt untangling electrical cords.
Reminds me of when I sent hubby to put the 18 mo. old to bed and came up later to find him sound asleep and the baby jumping on the bed perilously near the edge.
I forget who said “Early to bed and early to rise makes a man stupid and blind in the eyes”, but even in my head it sounds like Lazarus Long, so I’m just gonna pin that one on Robert Heinlein, somewhere or other.
I got there right on time. My name was really on their list. I got the first shot of vaccine at high noon, exactly on time. The most uncomfortable part was the 15 or so minute wait in the hard folding chair afterwards. I have an appointment card for March 22 for the second dose. I even got a sticker! I wish I knew somebody with a badge making kit. I’d love to turn that sticker into a badge.
Hello, everyone! It’s been a hard year, and it’s tough times right now for many industries, comics included. We’re coming out of about 6-7 newspapers in the next few months. I don’t know which ones (sorry!), it has a lot to do with companies that own large groups of newspapers reorganizing their comics. We’re a smaller comic, and get lost a bit in the shuffle sometimes when something like that happens. These companies usually keep the bigger name comics together, and we’re just not there yet. (Hopefully one day! The book sales help, newspapers that keep us help, your word of mouth helps; it all helps!)
If you are enjoying ‘Breaking Cat News’ in your newspaper, please let your local paper know. And likewise, if you’d like to see BCN in your newspaper, please ask them to add us! Often an editor might not know folks are enjoying a comic or looking for a new comic to be added, until their readers let them know. If editors hear our name and know people love it, they may add us to your paper!
I’ve always shared glimpses behind the scenes of what goes into creating a newspaper comic… This is not one of the more fun peeks, but this is part of it too. Everything has its ups and downs, even the funny pages. If your newspaper does drop BCN, if may help if you ask them to reconsider and bring us back. (Readers can sometimes get a newspaper to keep a comic, especially if it’s one of the newspapers that still has some say locally. If your newspaper has this decision made for them, reaching out to the company that owns them could help too!) And we will still be online at GoComics, too, of course!
We will still be in many newspapers! But 6-7 at once is a big enough chunk that I wanted to give a heads up to readers and prepare folks. This is a small setback—but I’m still so happy to be in the many newspapers we are in and optimistic for BCN’s newspaper count to keep growing. I hope to be in all of your newspapers one day! ❤️
I want to add, your support here has been incredible! All of the folks tuning into the comic on GoComics has made us a successful webcomic and I am so proud and happy for that. Your likes, comments, and shares have made it certain that we will continue to have a strong online presence, whatever happens elsewhere! <3 I hope so much to be in newspapers near to you, but I’m SO grateful that we all have GoComics as our shared funny pages, wherever we may be!
Frustrating. My real actual newspaper has dropped most of its comic strips and added some new ones. No, this wasn’t one of those, though if it was, I wouldn’t think to read any of the comments. I rarely read comments here, though. And if that’s not enough, gocomics has moved this one once again. A new one must have gotten added.
GoComics has just exterminated the Sherpa cartoons, after years of promising to integrate them into the main site. Seven years of Cleo and Company, flushed. Fortunately C&C has made a new home on Wordpress at cleoandcompany.net.
We had to have the one year old in our bed during the ice storm 2 weeks ago, 1 night had us fleeing to a hotel. Somehow the tiniest humans take up the most bed

Lullaby of chaos
That’s what we
Always hear, when kids let fly
Never in his pathos
Could there ways to reveal
In a phrase, how Elvis feels
Have you ever heard the bed ballet
Leaps and shrieks but
Sleep? No way
That’s the kind of magic music
That makes Elvis flip
When they’re like this
And there’s a fine Lupin fellow
He really knows how to move
And he can howl and can bellow
If he should join in
That fine bedtime groove
Lullaby of chaos
Whisper? No – just
Giggles sweet, and faces aglow
Flying high in a big bed
High in the sky up above
All because they are loved
(George David Weiss / George Shearing – Lullaby Of Birdland)

Pengo flying in a good way, but poor Elvis’s tea cup and book! Books and tea cups, especially full ones, are NOT meant to fly!
