Sally’s just like me. I don’t want to see any spewing in a movie either. Anytime I watch Apollo 13 I have to close my eyes and plug my ears. I wanted to kill my friend when she showed me Sixth Sense and didn’t warn me. She said she forgot that scene was in it.
Is that the back of (original) Patty’s head in the first panel, in front of Franklin? The hair length and checked pattern of her dress seem to suggest that it is her. What do commenters think?
I land in the The Exorcist camp. The pea-soup scene was all the buzz in the street when it was in theaters. And was the reason I had no interest in seeing it (besides I was too young to go to an R-rated movie anyway).
if they have a current newsreel before the main attraction Sally you definitely don’t want to go or a lot of current commercials. either would have you thowing up in two seconds
I was going to say “Jaws”, but that wouldn’t be out until the following year. The shark looks fake, but the bloody vomit (bleagh) looks real enough that Sally (and I) would want to stay as far away as possible.
If it were modern day, I’m thinking of “My Spy”, where Kristen Schaal has a throw-up scene that’s also repeated in the credits.
Perhaps I am a victim of “desensitization” but I’m in the same boat as Sally – I’m not that interested in watching movies where people throw up, but I do watch many action movies where people get killed.
When I took my ex-wife to see “The Meaning of Life”, she asked me, “There isn’t any throwing up in this movie?” I couldn’t help from laughing under my breath. She thought the part with Mr. Creosote was the funniest part of the movie, and couldn’t stop laughing.

What horrific movie could be airing at that time period? The Fly or The Birds perhaps?

Avoid the Exorcist. Peeing , head spinning, levitation, defenstration ,and oceans of pea soup vomit

I don’t think they are old enough to get in to the Exorcist.

Nowadays, it’s the audience that throws up.

Hope the movie theatre has safety protocols and social distance seating – even Sally mentioned “flu”!

Yeah, come on! Wait, this was made in the 70s? Nevermind. Gotta wait for the 80s to get to the good gore-fests!

A reminder ‘Peanuts’ is from a different time. What would Sally think of this year’s Oscar nominees?

Oh yes, the killing is much better.

If this strip had been done after 1986, it could have been influenced by the pie eating contest scene in “Stand by Me”

Well, you can watch Snoopy puke in today’s “Peanuts Begins,” if you like.

For the NFL’s 75th season they had the throw-back uniforms.
Some of them were really ugly, Chicago’s & Pittsburgh’s especially so, & the commentators called them “throw-up uniforms.”
