Back when this comic strip originally ran on Wednesday, May 29, 1974, this was the second time in two weeks that Lucy delivered gratuitous violence to Linus who apparently was a glutton for punishment.

I’d like to add by putting Lucy into a straight jacket, but then she’d kick me in the shins for that idea.

Schroeder would have gotten away that remark!

If that is how she treats Linus. How does Rerun survive?

Sometimes you have to take the lesser of two evils to achieve the mission. It did make her shut up and stop talking.

Lucy should meet up with Ignatz Mouse.

Linus often has a way of striking back in the most creative ways, like that perfect zing, watching a snow sculpture of her melt away or when he gave her a prize at being consistently crabby.

LOL funny. Linus knew what he was getting but it was worth it to tell off his nasty sister.

Girls, in the comic strip world, are violent. Lucy and Susan Derkins (Calvin and Hobbs) resort with physical violence when insulted by the male counterparts in their strips.

Is this still socially acceptable and is the opposite (boys hitting girls) still forbidden?

You have a lot of guts, Linus. And very brave.

I’m not condoning Lucy’s violence, but gotta say, little brothers can be a major pain. My Dad, called his “My little Bother”. It mostly improves with age, (Mine will be 71 this Sept,)

Linus just earned a seat in US Army Equality, Diversity, and Gender Confusion training.

That’s what he gets for trying to stand up to his crabby sister.

Makes me wonder if Lucy is related to Alice.

I dunno…was it worth it? Seemed like a mediocre insult at best. On the other hand, he did get in the last word which is no mean trick with Lucy.

Gotta give the kid props for being true to his convictions!
