So they were by the moon, rotated to see Earth, zipped over to Saturn in less than a minute and then Saturn was eaten by a giant space squid. Whatâs the point?
I was expecting Cliffâs body to have Pamâs head by frame #3, but of course Irritable Belle would have had words with the artist over that. Words, and punching.
I love it when a character is smoking a big, long cigar or cigarette at the beginning of a scene and then suddenly from a different angle itâs smoked halfway down.
I read somewhere how difficult shooting the scenes at the dinner table on âThe Waltonsâ was. Few of the characters ever actully consumed food because it was left out all day. The bits were not all shot at the same time so in order for the plates to look the same from frame to frame nothing was really eaten.
I usually miss the continuity errors in movies and TV shows, but I did catch the one in, I believe it was a Western, supposedly happening sometime in the 1800s, where thereâs a plane flying by in the backgroundâŠ
Back in the 1980s, Garry Trudeau used to put those little âcontinuity quirksâ in his Doonesbury strip. Every day it was like a game, âspot the continuity errorâ.
I would think the opposite would be true when drawing cartoons. The anime artists learned that continuity in background art would save them time and money.
A lot of details often go overlooked. Sometimes its poor research and planning. For example: the movie Pandorum (2009). The survivors have been on board this craft forever. Life has devolved and gotten ugly. And yet, when the first crewman opens his mouth to speak his dialog? Heâs got the whitest %^# teeth youâve ever seen. They all do. I was like âwhat the heII. How in the heII do you find time for dental care when youâre stuck on a spaceship full of flesh eating cannibals and a reactor about to go critical?!?â
The Classic movie Itâs a Wonderful Life with Jimmy Stewart. In one scene he is holding a Christmas wreath, then not, then, he is holding the wreath?!

Well then Fido got up off the floor anâ he rolled over
Anâ he looked me straight in the eye
Anâ you know what he said?
âOnce upon a time, somebody say to meâ
(This is a dog talking now)
âWhat is your Conceptual Continuity?â
âWell, I told him right thenâ
(Fido said)
âIt should be easy to see
The crux of the biscuit is the Apostrophe"

Whadda hoot! It was fun to try to âspot the changes!â Took a minute to realize Cliff was no longer Cliff. Took the white coat to get my attention!

Good strip today, but wouldnât try it without my coffee. Fully expected the last panel to cut to âNancyâ

Some prune juice will help with that discontinuity.
