It’s basically forcing you to go to summer camp.

He’s been drafted.

Who else is going to be at camp? Roy or the boy on the cot who says, “shut up and leave me alone”?

I’ve never understood this American obsession with sending kids to summer camp.

I don’t think the timeline entirely matched up, but was this plotline a reference to the draft?

Sounds like a prison term handed down by a judge.

You’ll get away from Lucy. She’s not going. That’s a plus! ;D

I was never able to go to camp. We couldn’t afford it.

Everything happens to poor Charlie.

At least Charlie Brown doesn’t need to get a “Boot-Camp” style haircut.

Two weeks are nothing. From 1969-71, I spent eight weeks at sleepaway camp.

Charlie Brown, it’s so you can meet up with a kid that says “Shut up and leave me alone” ( or something like that ).

As a country kid, I never got sent to camp. The camps were where I lived. The city kids came up to experience the country life.

The only reason kids get sent to camp is because the folks want time to themselves.

Fortunately, it was the worst week — not two weeks — of my life. I think I’d have been better off going to the bar with my sister. At least there I could’ve learned something about running a business.

Plotline, Chuck! It’s just the plotline (and possibly your parents want you out of the house ;)

Camp is good for you. Get on the bus and shut up. And have FUN!

I got a letter like that back in 1971 only it was for two years.

Is this like an analogy to the military draft?

We all knew that this was coming. It’s a pure Charlie Brown moment.

Life doesn’t always work out as we would hope.

Because of all the Charlie Browns in the world, you’re the Charlie Browniest!

It’s gonna be lonely at camp. Everyone else opted out.

Because you’re Charlie Brown and it’s a day that ends in “y”.

Sounds like C Brown has been drafted.

Why you???? Because you are Charlie Brown.

On the plus side Charlie Brown, Snoopy and Woodstock might tag along again. Just do not let the bus drive off without you again. “What about me? You forgot me!”

And bring your mask, Charlie Brown. Be sure to wear it for all outdoor activities.

Did he get drafted, or sentenced?

I always find it hilarious that the parents seem to have no input in what happens to their kids in the Peanuts world. The kids have to manage their lives themselves. But that is part of the charm and subtle commentary the strip makes.

Poor CB! All his canvassing was of no use…despite his best in-tent.

So when is summer camp a required thing to have to fill out an application to NOT go.

I always earned my way to camp, I loved it! I came from an abusive home and camp was the highlight of my year!

well, that sounds like a command from the jailor. Yes, only CB?

I said that yesterday!!

They didn’t have baseball camp back then, or he’d have been first on the bus!
