This is very funny, and we laughed out loud when we read it.

On a slightly more serious note, though, all the women’s lib and ‘women are just the same as men’ stuff that has crept into our culture over my lifetime has had its nasty side for women. Yes, I am talking about menopause, and the fact that many women get- more irritable, while they go through the change.

I have seen modern men totally insensitive to this transition who have divorced the mother of their children rather than wait it out. In today’s world, men can even take the children with them, leaving the woman who bore the kids to cry alone with her hormones. Indeed, I have even seen a lawyer take advantage of his expertise to do this.

Malthusian methods of restraining the growth of the ‘peasant population’ that led to ‘sexual freedom’ and liasons without commitment have revolutionized relationships. A few feisty women have gained positions of power, but many another works low-end jobs while her children are taught by someone else whose values may not even approximate hers. Then, when she gets too old to compete with the current crop of pretty young women, and her hormones are driving her crazy, she gets dumped to suffer through the rest of her life on her own. It is not obvious to me that current culture is better for women than a culture with an emphasis on enduring marriages with commitment to and caring for spouses and children, throughout life’s changes.

Just a thought.
