Memorial Day. The day we remember and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice defending our country. But let us also remember those who’s experiences were so traumatic that their life is still a living hell and for some too much to bear. Let’s keep all of them in our thoughts and prayers, and hope their numbers will not grow. ☮

Beautiful message Jimmy. We often forget the many things we have to enjoy because of the sacrifices of those who gave their all for us

We can’t grow hydrangea (snowball bushes) here in the Rocky Mountains, the winters are too cold. One of the very few things I miss from growing up on the east coast.

Best thing we can do to honor those who did not come back home, is to be the type of American it was worth fighting and dying for.

    Good one, JJ.

In our thoughts this year let’s include the 18,000 Afghans who had our backs for 20 years as we conducted the Bush War of Futility. If we can find a mechanism and process for numerous illegals coming in then we can do everything necessary for those who earned a place here.

Get them over here and then do the screening and processing. If we could extract 200,000 Vietnamese after Saigon fell then 18,000 should be a cakewalk over the next couple of months.

As I tap this message, a neighbor is operating a noisy lawn mower.

I wish that he could have waited until tomorrow, but perhaps he has no choice.

While this is wonderful art and sentiment, the United States today is definitely NOT “at peace”. A different interpretation is that the dove is trying to get the hell out of here while there is still time and the fallen are turning in their graves. Remember: most of those since 1900 died fighting fascism. Antifa, if you will.

Growing up (now 86), I heard both Decoration Day and Memorial Day, and it was observed on May 30. The 1972 date is probably when it became a federally set Monday holiday.
