Chalk outlines are a myth invented by pulp fiction writers in the 1920s, because you couldn’t show actual dead bodies, especially ones full of bullet holes….
I’ve always wanted to stumble across a chalk body outline after the police have finished with it, and add arms and legs to turn it into a picture of da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man.
Temporal Art! Like ice sculptures it isn’t meant to last. I can see people paying to have their outlines chalked – they’ve been transformed into art! And I can see the kids thinking of positions (either as individuals or groups) to make a statement… Probably an obscene statement rather than social commentary.
Tech question, do they use special ‘’body chalk’’ or just plain, mess up the sidewalk, chalk?
I’d like to be the exclusive vendor for ‘’crime scene’’ tape. We sure use a lot of that. I see the cops running from tree to lamp post to doorknob. It’s like they’re decorating the place.
There was an old working man’s bar in the Flats of Cleveland that had bullet holes in the windows… a reminder of the days before gentrification. Can’t remember if it was Fagan’s or Mickey Finn’s, or the Flat Iron… but it was cheap and it was noisy. Owners left the windows for “ambience”.

In the county they have the courtesy to bury the body or feed the hogs so outlines aren’t necessary.

Obviously, the artist flunked out of his dream job of doing facial composite sketching of suspects.

Well, I suppose the choice is the Urban Paradise of woke folk pictured, or the harsh wilderness of the hillbilly Trumptards…

Bob probably should move. There is no way he is in shape to run from trouble.

Okay, so on a related subject, who is supposed to clean up all that street art stuff. I mean is there a city service or something?

Cartoonists don’t follow forensics, these days. The body outline hasn’t been done in years.

The artwork gets really interesting when there are mass shootings; each body outlined with a different color chalk.
