That’s a magic watercooler! Panel 2 it’s level with Puck’s ears when he is standing aside to it. Panel 4 Puck’s slightly forward of it, and it’s 2x Puck ears high!
Is Elvis afraid that the water fountain is replacing the coffee pot? Is the ‘growing’ water fountain related to Audry(Little Shop of Horrors)? How can a reporter function without the coffee pot?
When the old Elvis (Presley) sang: “(You’re So Square) Baby I Don’t Care”, our young Elvis may sing now: “(You Call Me Cranky) Pucky I Give You Spanking”
My cats have one of those. The problem I have with it is the water in the bowl does not stay clean, and it’s very difficult to dump it when it has a gigantic upside down jug of water on top of it. How do others handle this?
Speaking of water coolers, my firm represents a water cooler company (among other plumbing-related companies). The water cooler with the bottle filler is so popular that it has a three-month waiting period to buy one. Apparently, young people always have water bottles with them nowadays, hanging off their backpacks. If not that, then they are carrying a bottle of water they purchased.
Two observations.
First, if you had told me forty years ago that we could sell bottled water and that people would buy it, I would have laughed at you because there are drinking fountains around everywhere.
Second, when did the young suddenly get so dehydrated that they need to carry water with them?
Hi the last kitty update I said they all found good homes one of those homes was us we had 2 cats for 2 years already and one got along with them very well the other was very grumpy sadly we just found the cat who got along with them passed away he was 3 and showed very little signs of being sick we thought he disliked the cat food brand he was jumping around and cleaning himself his sister was already stressed out with the new cats and hasn’t taken it too well
IRL, employees rarely chat, let alone gossip, around the water cooler any more. Even before COVID-19, IME the hub of discussion was the coffee station.
I have water dish similar to that one and one fountain. The non-fountain one is in my kitchen and one or both of them seem to think they need to move it around when the drink. I know when it is getting close to empty because then it is really easy for them to move around and it ends up in the middle of the kitchen. The fountain is in the spare room with carpet and they don’t move that one around, which might just be because it doesn’t move as easily because it is on the carpet.
They Alley Cats and Ales silent auction is over. Lupin finished highest of Georgia’s paintings (and I am pretty sure highest of anything on the auction) at $764. Baba made a late surge and came in second at $608. Then came Bea at $275, Burt at $273 and Goldie at $207. So all together Georgia’s artwork took in $2127 which is pretty good.
After thinking about how all the cats on BCN are distinct in color and patterns, I was remembering my son when he had 3 cats; all black. I remember visiting and my daughter-in -law pointing at one and saying “And that one is Midnight… No wait, I think this one is Midnight. No…” (Midnight was the smallest one so it was only obvious when they stood next to each other which they never did.)
Friendly catermelon Georgia PEW PEW PEWed 4 li’l boys – a panther, 2 black tuxies, & a gray tuxie – yesterday afternoon/evening! All turned out to be blood type A, so type B mama can’t open up the milkbar yet. They’re getting the bottle & keeping warm in the incubator until it’s safe for them to go back later today.
These will probably be Georgia’s only surviving kittens; any previous litters will most likely have died from the mismatch with her rare blood type. “Neonatal isoerythrolyis” is a condition in which type B momcat’s milk carries antibodies to type A blood, & the kittens’ blood will literally break down & they’ll die if they get mama’s milk during the first 24 hours.
Poor Georgia really, really,REALLY misses her kittens – she cried so much when they had to be taken away – but it will be SOOOOO worth it when it’s safe for them to come back & they can be a happy, healthy family! Stay tuned…
All this talk of what is and isn’t news reminds me of a story I heard on “Selected Shorts” (live performance radio show/podcast of great actors reading short fiction) last night. The first-person narrator was a perfectly unremarkable office worker whose every mundane action was suddenly the object of intense media coverage.
Platty, who was a colony cat that lived at the apartment complex where I live at, has gone over the bridge. Poor thing was found to have multiple cancer tumors. He was going down hill fast. The lady I help with at the colony where oopsie lived, she made sure he had a nice warm last night, so he was safe. She does cat rescue and took him in. He’s going to be missed.
Had something like that for Spotty back in the late ’80s and ’90s. A water dish you screwed a 3 liter soda bottle into. He loved it. Probably shoulda buried it with him when he died.
O.T. for lovers of Cat’s Cafe — Matt announced on Instagram that a 2nd book will be forthcoming in 2022. Not available for pre-order yet, but still……(contented sigh) something to look forward to!

My furkids like the water feeder. We call it the “glug-glug” for the sound it makes as the water level drops.

Ooh-ooh, bet you’re wond’ring how I knew
‘Bout two beauts (countin’ Elvis, boo)
Well, that line ’bout him we knew before
But hangin’ here with you, Puck, please spill more & more
It took me by surprise I must say
When I found out just today
Ooh-ooh I heard it through the grapevine
That your water cooler is now online
Ooh-ooh I heard it through the grapevine
Now it’s always share-the-tea time
Tea with honey yeah

Hallelujah!!!
I’m back after 8 days in the hospital with pneumonia.
Typical⸻ I’m tired, achy, sore, black and blue ALL over and seriously suffering from lack of sleep.
They say that you need proper rest and nutrition to heal properly, I need to sleep!
For those who gave me head boops, paw power, purrzz, good wishes, prayers, or other symbols of support⸻ I thank you.
It’ll take me at least a week to “catch up” on my favorite comics, and I might not be able to keep up with the comment section for a while.
My thanks to the orb for the well wishes and prayers.
