I am leery of these one-sided contracts that claim to be alterable without notification to the customer. It started with the End User License Agreements that claimed to be enforceable after cutting the seal on the envelope containing the software disks and the EULA inside. Now the contracts can be changed electronically because they’re not printed. This would not be acceptable for a standard legal contract where all parties must sign in agreement, but now the corporation can change whatever it wants and not even bother to tell you what happened. I had that problem when somebody decided to change a contract in such a way that I became a violation. I got a notice telling me that I had until some date to reduce my consumption that had been acceptable for several years prior. I threw money at the corporation to upgrade my service plan, but it obviously did not want my business.

Reminds me of the argument I had with Natwest Bank, where they demanded information from me on the basis of ‘regulation’ yet refused to tell me what the regulation was, and when I challenged it followed up with an alternate line of BS that they also refused to provide me with, because they were under no obligation to do so.
A waste of time given they closed my account with a standard BS letter anyway.
When my wife died they did their level best to obstruct my retrieving money from her account, that I had put there, until I made a formal complaint and they realised the game was up and returned it (all of £400, the compensation they offered for the months of hassle was at £250 almost as much).

Is it true that Google is planning to drop all pretense and send out their Piracy Policy.

The trick is to change, update, amend and “improve” so often and at such length that no one will be able to tell what was changed.
