Misery loves company, but maybe not if the company is Pattersons.

Especially ex-hippie, pontificating company, as accurately depicted in the third panel.

Whether loves company is sort of irrelevant. It usually doesn’t get it.

This is precisely why I go to the gym. It has really helped me out. It’s been years since I’ve had back problems.

Yikes..

Been there. It sucks.

A lot of back problems start in the front. Tighten up that midriff.

Imagine it would be hard to work as a dentist with all the standing/bending over required.

Poor Jon isn’t getting any sympathy here, more like the friends of Job. And, misery does love company when the company is of like situation.

Sometimes family sym-pathy lacks em-pathy but has an excess of a-pathy.

Y’know, when my back hurts I try to balance it carefully, not lean forward.

With my family who needs enemies.

I’d rather see a doctor than go to see anyone in John’s profession!

Some times..

Not it does not. I have hubby in mid 75 due to stress from work on his lower back, he retied age 62, did a number on his lower back. his body is aging faster then his age.

There are times when this family lacks compassion, sigh

My back hurts just looking at him! Sympathy pains.

He is not even geezer age yet.

What a bunch of pigs. No consideration for dad. Ever stop and think maybe a cause of John’s back problems is that he was wounded in the Vietnam war?

Some Tylenol and hot compresses can work miracles.

He probably won’t consult a physiotherapist because he doesn’t want to “do the work” of getting better and staying that way.

Ellie is lecturing — again. And she was there when it happened too.

The kids will not be cracking jokes if John is unable to work and cannot put food on the table? Does the dropout think she can pay the bills on her job as an acting assistant assistant librarian?

Maybe if he sent Ellie to an accoutant a few times to do the bill paying she’d understand extreme tension back aches
