As a freshman, I would get into senior parties because I was Ted’s roommate. OUT OF PITY. He was that widely loathed. It’s his superpower. — Craig Mazin, Ted Cruz’s roommate freshman year at Princeton University
“Here’s the thing you have to understand about Ted Cruz. I like Ted Cruz more than most of my other colleagues like Ted Cruz. And I hate Ted Cruz.” —Al Franken, Giant of the Senate (2017)
It’s okay to hate him but realize first, he is where he is and does what he does because people chose him to do it. Might want to look a little closer at his power base.
It’s a common misconception that the failed repug coup started on January 6th. It didn’t. It has grown concurrent with the modern repug movement, and every time repugs are denied the popular vote majority they crave, the stronger their authoritarian tendencies grow.
Do not concede to asymmetrical democracy, for there lies fascism.
It’s funny how Rafael Ooze, a LATINO by birth, is whining about all the “Attacks” against “White men”… But then again, he never was the sharpest tool in the shed.
I knew on the evening of January 6th, after the event and resumption of vote-certification took place, that there would be so much more to learn about that day as time went on. But what has been revealed in the last two weeks has been quite stunning. The depth to which elected leaders were involved in one form or another? Thank goodness for this investigative committee. And thank goodness for Liz Cheney (never thought I would be saying this) standing tall in the face of supreme opposition from members of her own party.
They can’t try “again” until they stop trying the first time. And, that first time started with Dick Chaney/ Watergate, etc. I don’t mean honest disagreement between the parties. That’s been forever. I mean the attitude that they will do anything, no matter how dishonest and despicable to control the country. And, that’s no matter who or what is destroyed in the process. They would be perfectly happy ruling in hell instead of being the “other party” in heaven.
My wife and I were engaging in a little repartee today about what would be fitting punishment for Ghislaine Maxwell, who wasn’t the brains behind Jeffrey Epstein’s disgusting sexual depradations, but certainly abetted them. I drew the analogy to Josef Mengele, who wasn’t the originator of Nazism but certainly contributed to its horrors. Then we got to comparing Donald Trump and Dick Cheney, wondering which of them deserved the worse fate. I think we ultimately decided that it was a draw and could only be decided if each of them was equipped with a blowtorch and they were both put in the octagon with the instruction “Two men enter, only one emerges.”
I never could quite get just what it is that makes Everyone hate Ted Cruz. Then I heard Al Franken’s explanation, “He’s the Dwight Schrute of Congress.” Now I get it.

Fortunately for our country, it seems the Joint Chiefs of Staff were not enthusiastic about backing Trump in his efforts to overturn the election.

Long ago, Americans agreed: One man = 1V (One Vote). But now:
Dems: 1 adult = 1V
Cons: 1 “man” = 1V
GOP: 1 corporation = 1 BIG V
GQP: 1 Martian = -42 V
Trumplicans: 1 gun = 1V
A failed coup is STILL an #insurrection!

I don’t think that was quite what Duke meant. But would the intention to launch a military coup that did not happen be a crime?

Problem is you can’t buy a military coup, too many soldiers believe in honor and duty. Saved us this time, but they’re working on the work around.

That’s a sympathetic witness in today’s Republican party. A failed military coup would have been just another tourist event on Fox.
