The ideal would be for us to have used the pandemic to move the society further to the green side. But politics is the art (ugly, but still art) of the possible.
Why are we tapping the strategic reserve when we are still exporting 3 million barrels of oil a day? This is starting to look a lot like the ’ 70s made up oil shortage.
@RAGs- That’s why the Dems and the rest of us sensible thinking Americans have to put aside our petty differences, work together and get these REPULSIVE-CANS out of our hair for good!
The irony addressed by Davies is the unspoken conflict between cutting back on petroleum consumption by driving an electric car and the reality that the electricity for the cars still is mostly generated by burning natural gas or coal.
We have a full electric (Jaguar iPace) and a pug in hybrid (Volvo XC60) and solar panels. We can charge both cars and sell the excess from that and house usage to BC Hydro. Our meter runs backwards. With the rain and snow, not so much. But in the last 3 years since the installation was finished we have had an average power ‘bill’ of $23.56 per month. Yup, BC Hydro sends us money for the power we generate.
Stupid cartoon, Davies. Way below your normal stuff. Oil represents less than half a percent of electricity generation and electricity represents less than half a percent of petroleum consumption. You’re supposed to help make people smarter, not more ignorant.

We’d be much farther along with renewable energy sources if republicans and fossil fuel companies weren’t so obstructionist.

GM has announced it will only build electric cars by 2030 (??) That’s fine, but most of what it builds are pickups and suburbans.

As usual, nothing that a Democrat does can ever please a GQP.

It’s better (for now) than $6.99 for a gallon of gas – where I live.

You mean like windmills that freeze or solar farms covered in snow if we want clean energy nuclear is the best option

on the other hand… China is mining scarce metals in Africa for the EV batteries. We are trading one environmental disaster for another.
