If Calvin’s parents smoked, he could give it to them as an ashtray.

Now wait for it to harden and throw it on the ground.

Not enough clay in the world to make any kind of jet.

Calvin seems to have the satisfying advantage of low expectations.

Turn around very slowly, Calvin!

Hobbs’s effort is not either.

No matter what I made in pottery class, Mom used it as a pencil holder. Mug? Pencils. Plant pot? Pencils. Pitcher? Pencils. I learned to make stuff that wasn’t deep enough for a pencil to stand up in.

I made a duck in pottery class. Everyone thought it was a really neat looking dragon. When I told them it was a duck, they laughed at me. When I insisted it was a duck, they got mad at me.

Art is what you make of it. >:-)

Hobbes’ tiger looks like the winner…..

Tigers, the artists of the jungle.

I plan to write a novel about a short story writer, and include some of the author-character’s “works”. I hope he’s a better writer than me because my stories all turn out to be bowls.

I think Hobbes might be a Kzin..

That is looking good, Hobbes is a natural, shame they don’t have a proper oven for it.

It’s okay, the statue is a hallucination too.

I want a Hobbes Action Figure like the one he is sculpting, too! Way cool!

Next day, Calvin will take Hobbes’ sculpture to school for show-and-tell.

And when he tells the class that his stuffed toy made it, he’ll end up in the principal’s office.

The first Air Force fighter jet I ever worked on was the F-4 C/D Phantom in the mid/late 70’s as a Radar tech. Ah, the memories.

Sometimes it’s hard to tell “sincere” from “condescending” but today I didn’t smell a bit of snark from Hobbes.

Furry, fanged and talented sculpture, totally not fair.

If you can’t jump high enough to clear the bar, simply lower the bar.

I once sculpted a cat about the size of Hobbes’ tiger creation. Now I wish I had not given it to a short-term girlfriend. C’est la vie, c’est l’amour

In Jr. high art class, I made a figurine of a woman. Her head fell off in the oven. I should have called her Anne Boleyn.

It nice to play with clay.

Kids these days have a harder time sculpting. Fewer parents smoke, and there is less paper to weigh down at desks.

Hobbes is pretty fast in creativity. Must have stolen the duplicator made by Calvin. Watch out young boy for the little feline about to devour your bowl aka phantom jet.

Anything I ever make is considered a “masterpiece” as long as I don’t compare it with professionals.
