There should be another card for their flip-side…look adorable stretched out in a sunbeam, purr contentedly when petted, snuggle up, play like a kitten into old age, provide amusement with your antics, be a quiet companion, lift your head for chin scritches, beg politely for your share of a special treat (melted vanilla ice cream), make me laugh when I find you crammed into a ridiculous napping spot…

It’s amazing how many faults, idiosyncracies, and inconveniences we will put up with from our pets and how few we will put up with from other people.

They are like babies. They need us and we are compassionate. Or are we just suckers?
