I loathe-abhor, despise, detest & abominate channel-flippers. They should be banned from so much as coming near a remote, much less touching or speaking to one. That is all.
My father used to search the AM stations while on long drives, seeking something to keep him awake. We would just start to get interested in something when he sought something else.
Some (who?) hypothesized that different roles in hunter-gatherer societies is partially responsible for evolution of differences in behavior between men and women. The hypothesis is that women did the gathering, and socialized while doing that. But, the men doing the hunting tended not to talk to each other, lest the sounds spook their targeted prey. The hunters also needed to make snap decisions. Hearing a rustle, for example, a hunter had to decide if the source was prey, a large predator, or a friend. Those who had the best snap reactions made the best hunters.
The hypothesis says that very fast channel surfing uses those “snap decisions” nerve pathways our ancestors found valuable during hunting.

If she wanted something good, she’d play a disc, not watch stations!

In my household, it’s my wife who does the rapid fire channel flipping.

This is great! Now do a series of comics with a female assistant, making fun of negative female stereotypes! I am sure it will go over just as well.

The way this is going, we may end up with a hanging chad.
