The answer is PIP, Puppy bowl on when “big game” is on and commercials on from “big game” with puppy bowl in the background. I may get into football next season again. The High school is 12 miles from me. I’ll feel better about paying $6 for a hot dog there. Support local kids and families.
fast forward through both the game and the ads and if you’re really dying to waste time on a nice day, pop in a good movie. butch cassidy and the sundance kid, say…
My satellite receiver has PVR. I have about a dozen shows and special events I like to watch so I record them and watch them later minus the commercials when there’s nothing else to do. I will record today’s super bowl game and start watching the playback around 8 o’clock so I can skip through all the talking heads crap and just enjoy what I hope will be a great game including the commercials.
I DVR the game and don’t watch it live. After its over I can fast fwd whole game in 30 minutes. No announcers – no commercials – no BS. No wasted life.
Why waste a good Sunday.. catch the highlights on the news, watch the commercials on Youtube. Go fishing, take a walk.. spend time with a real football and your kids.
Haven’t come far from the Roman Arena have we? Does speak highly of our level of affluence and surplus of reason that many of our greatest civil problems are centered on ways to forfeit your mind. Booze, drugs, Media headlines, sports, videos, comics, … I’m still thinking … must have missed a dose of something somewhere.
You guys enjoy your game. Two of us are taking our therapy dogs to the hospital to cheer up those who are working and may or may not wish they were watching football. We will also spend time with patients and visitors. We go where needed.
That’s the only part I watch and some of them I skip through. Who wants to watch a bunch of over paid prima donas cry about being mistreated? I don’t watch any pro sports. Worthless MFs.
Brutus, you’re not exactly being Sherlock Holmes in those last two panels — she just told you she wants to fast forward through the dull parts (non-football fan here).
Usually just check the Super Bowl off and on, sometimes for the ads, sometimes (not tonight) for the half-time show. Was doing that in 2010, and SURPRISE ! turned out to be an exciting game. Plus it was nice to see something good happen to the folks in New Orleans.
Brutus must not know a lot of people too well, including the DeGroot family on the same day’s comics page. But I also know whole families who mainly skipped to the best commercials and the halftime show.

She’s not the only one. I do it too. It’s the only time I don’t use the skip button to FF thru the ads on my TiVo.

The ads are the best part of the “game!!” The “game” itself – not so much!! BORING!!

I remember a study that looked at football ‘action’ and there was about 6 minutes of play for every game.

Superbowl offers something for everybody I guess. However, I am VERY disappointed that Brutus has so little in the way of snacks within arms’ reach……

Super Bowl ads are funny the first time, but get old really fast.
