38th Valentine’s Day with my Great Love. We exchanged Valentine’s at 3:15 a.m. She didn’t need a nightie back then. And she still doesn’t need one now.
I never understood having a scheduled time for “activities.” Or a scheduled time to tell someone you love them. I’m not one for the “Hallmark holidays.” Stay interested in each other and keep the romance alive year ‘round… not just because the media says you should on a certain day!
It is my sixty forth time around with my Valentine and I have forgotten what this strip is about. I do seem to remember that it was a lot of fun and good feeling(s).
Shortly before dinner husband said “Hey! Happy Valentine’s Day!” I replied “oh gee – today? Happy Valentine’s Day to you too.”
And went downstairs to cook his pandemic Monday night hotdogs and fries and my pandemic Monday night chicken patty + leftover Sunday night Chinese food – big decision was chicken noodle, chicken & stars, or chicken rice canned soup with it – generally decision based on which kind we have the most of in the pantry.

Dan Savage has good advice for such occasions – to put it less concisely than he does, do Panel 3.5 first.

Now he can remember that sheer little nightie she didn’t wear.
All she wore was a single red rose strategically placed.
It should be told that he was exceedingly bold and deflowered her once again.

Wonder if it occurs to them that they probably get it in more than Gene an Mary Lou?

A friend of mine got his lady a sheer baby doll nightie with fake fur hem. Said it kept his wife’s neck warm.
