John H. Durham, the Trump-era special counsel scrutinizing the investigation into Russia’s 2016 election interference, distanced himself on Thursday from false reports by right-wing news outlets that a motion he recently filed said Hillary Clinton’s campaign had paid to spy on Trump White House servers.

Citing a barrage of such reports on Fox News and elsewhere based on the prosecutor’s Feb. 11 filing, defense lawyers for a Democratic-linked cybersecurity lawyer, Michael Sussmann, have accused the special counsel of including unnecessary and misleading information in filings “plainly intended to politicize this case, inflame media coverage and taint the jury pool.”

In a filing on Thursday, Mr. Durham defended himself, saying those accusations about his intentions were “simply not true.” He said he had “valid and straightforward reasons” for including the information in the Feb. 11 filing that set off the firestorm, while disavowing responsibility for how certain news outlets had interpreted and portrayed it.

There really wasn’t much to report. A contractor who was paid to do DNS lookups and had ties to Democrats released (possibly without his boss’s authorization) DNS info but lied about it. And it was previously reported.

Yeah, ran across an article a few days ago that had a chart showing how much time the big three stations and their news affiliates gave the Durham story zero time. Surprisingly CNN give the story a couple of minutes but it was cherry picked for benign bit not hostile to Hillary. Of course FOX gives it full, fair and impartial coverage based on DOJ statements and detailed in Sussman’s indictment. Joffe and his company is probably next on the block for hacking into the White House servers used by the office of the President.

Right-wingers have baselessly convinced themselves that Clinton spied on Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign and presidency, citing a report from former Special Counsel John Durham in which he made no such allegation and explicitly stated that there was no evidence of that happening.

Golly, an investigation ordered by Trump based upon no evidence, then ordered by Barr because he was ordered by Trump, finds no evidence of any real crime.

The crime here is abuse of power by the former administration aimed at political rivals.

This ‘toon displays a degree of faith conviction in right wing ideologue’s claims (FOX evening lineup, Newsmax, Breitbart, et al), proven demonstrably false almost from the instant Durhams’ filing occurred last week, which anyone with a single molecule of rational brain in their head would have realized last Sunday by noon at the very latest is something to be humiliatingly embarrassing.
