Is this a backlogged comic meant for Halloween? Because the extra size, the “up to something spooky” Marx, and Wally catching a Zalgo cold all at the same time says Halloween to me.
Marx is being less cryptic now. Someone hit him with a baseball bat to check if it’s still him. I’m not sure how the baseball bat will prove his Marx-ness, but it’ll make me feel better, so I see this as a Win-Win situation for the scientific method.
Marx has been giving Wally lots of attention over the years, we’ve seen him visit Wally’s dreams a few times. Wally said that Marx dimension hopped with him often. Maybe we’re about to find out why. https://www.gocomics.com/endtown/2018/11/12
I am remembering when Wally answered the phone in a dream, and then he was bleeding … but only from the ear where the phone had been. One of the Marx kids warned him about taking calls… But the blood was in red then.
This is more like when black stuff began oozing from the walls etc in Eden when Wally passed out.
The reappearance of Marx always causes varied reactions among us (the audience). Here is an early “conversation” between Wally and Marx (soon after they first met) which is probably my favorite. Enjoy..or not, as you wish. https://www.gocomics.com/endtown/2012/05/17
You want to destroy souls set off a nuclear bomb will disrupt their matrix maybe permanently. Or so Wm S. Burroughs suggested in his version of “Blade Runner”.
Marx: “But hey, enough about that! Let’s get some garlic flavored gum! I know a great reality next door that produces garlic gum that’ll blow your head off!”
Someone else beat me to it, but it does look like Wally’s dittos forming “blood”. The author usually shifts to red for actual blood. Did Eye catch a ride with the dittos (he was controlling them back in the base, after all)? Did Marx know that, and make this speech to draw him out?
Good old Ted/Eye, cleansing the world one soul at a time.
From what I remember(and I could be wrong), “I”/Eye and Marx have never faced each other directly within the confines of this strip-“Endtown”. They seem to be adversaries of some kind, but only by function. Marx is a sort of custodian between planes; fixing this, cleaning that. While Eye wants to break/consume everything in all planes. Marx seems to be aware of Eye, but is Eye aware of Marx? Marx can move freely between planes and inside them. Eye cannot, and needs some kind of meat puppet(or other sentient vehicle, like toothbrushes or dittos), to move around. Will this be their confrontation? Can it manifest itself in the Crossroads? Are those possessed dittos exiting Wally?

Why do I get the feeling it’s all going to be up to Wally to make the great sacrifice for all Realities?

Well, this is getting grim. And dark. Not to mention that “or something” seeping out of Wally.
Of course, you can never tell if anything Marx says is true or not.

There is no red. Things usually get moving and change course when there is red. I am used to story arcs taking a turn at that point.

All that time I had been trying to get into Wally’s head… It may have succeeded.

Look at the very last panel. Could that be blood coming from Wally’s mouth?????

Whatever is oozing from Wally’s every orifice, it doesn’t bode well.

Is Marx suggesting there’s someone, or something, as powerful, or more powerful than he?
