The main office of my high school had a big poster of an erosion scene (Natural Bridge or some such) with a caption reading âNatureâs Great law Is Change.â On the secretaryâs desk was a small placard which said âSorry, this office cannot make change.â
Typical conflict between ideals. Beautiful flowers planted back from sidewalks in areas where green grass also is considered an important âappearance feature.â
Visited my dad at the VA Hospital. Walking across the campus I saw a very unique tree and walked on the path toward it. It was still quite a way off and I could see a plaque posted in front of it. I walked to it hoping it named the type of tree it was. It didnât. It said âKeep off the grass.â

Maybe the flowers have a very strong scent.

Conflicting signs. Thereâs a street I drive on regularly with 40 MPH stenciled on the pavement and 25 MPH on a signpost on the curb.

I donât see a contradiction. One sign invites enjoyment of nature, while the other advises to refrain from using a certain drug. :)

It says to take the time to smell the flowers. It doesnât say you should actually smell the flowers.

There are conflicting aphorisms for almost everything. One of my favorite pairs is:
(1) Blood is thicker than water.
(2) You can pick your friends, but youâre stuck with your relatives.
