Awww! No one can replace us! I think they’re just passing through from another age…..

Actually, they are the upgraded version. Feathers and a light frame were more suited to riding around on a tortoise. All that armor and difficult-to-maneuver tail were replaced by a a compact, defensive design. :)

Reminds me of the change of design for pickups a few years back. Bigger, noisier, uglier.

How can it be an upgrade if it cannot fly?

A proper upgrade would be a teradactyl on the ankylosaurus’s back to fly it around.

Some of the latter creations were not well conceived.

“John and Dookey Bird” have an edgier image!

I notice in all these BC comics with four-footed animals, they all walk like camels — both left feet forward, then both right feet, etc.
