It’s great seeing a tender father/daughter moment for a change! In too many cartoons mothers are the only ones who spend quality time with daughters.

Good, Frank, good. Encouragement … compassion … and a little humor. So far, so good.

That is sweet.

After years of bad jokes and comments on Luann it’s really refreshing to see Frank be so supportive with his daughter and be able to make her smile again (almost) after a sad experience. He has a huge faith in her and he knows what to say. What a good father ♡!

Every teacher who has ever existed has “lost” a student at some point. It’s unavoidable. The difference is that the good teachers actually care.

So at no point are they going to realize that Axel quit because Luann didn’t accept his advances and it had nothing to do with her teaching abilities?

Frank is such a wonderful father.

Does Luann even realize that Axel was only there to flirt with her?

Luann makes a good point – the greatest teacher in the world can’t teach a student who doesn’t want to learn.

I wish Greg would show a little courage with these characters. Girls are teachers or counselors or would be starlets, boys are jocks, heads or nerds, and all of this reflects on their choices of career or in life. I can still see Luann changing gears on an 18-wheeler as an alternate path. He did it with Brad ( out of love, of course), and showed some daring with Gunthie’s side trip to Peru (again, out of love). Give us some variety, for a change. Having Luann’s parents buy the Fuse was a good start, but the kids usually revert to form.

Good teachers absolutely do lose students, because there is far more going on in their lives than what the teacher can provide. The surgeon analogy was a great one to bring up. And it’s good to lose one early on; it teaches you what that’s like before you get cocky.

Luann, good teachers are made by good students too. Keep that in mind, also.

My 2nd grade teacher lost me on a field trip. Intentionally.

Luann is wrong. Good teachers do “lose” students. Some students just won’t be helped. (and yes, that doesn’t make the hurt and sense of failure any less)

Ms. Fogarty/Phelps should tutor the bratty Alex. She would put him in his place and wipe those puckered lips off his face.

Jeezus, Frank, will you just tell the girl that all Axel wanted was a snuggle with you? She should have figured it out for herself by now, though, way back last week.

Tomorrow Faye will show up and tell Luann what Axel has been saying about her.

Luann handled the situation with Axel right 100%.

I think Frank will say Luann is good at anything to get her out of the house at this point. She isn’t a good listener or she would have picked up on Axel’s overtures. She is all over the map on standards – she sent the message to Fay that taking the initiative to set up a date would get her punished and sent the message to Axel that his behavior had NO consequences. She goofed up with Tara. She big time needs to work on her classroom management skills before parents, admins and students run her over. IF she wants to stay on the public teaching track.
