Friend uses YouTube to learn how to fix or repair stuff around his home. He said, while he learns a lot of useful techniques, the best thing is what not to attempt on his own. Lots more of us would benefit from learning that.
I told my mechanic friend I watched a video on how to change brake pads. He came over to guide me through my first attempt, I had difficulty loosening the lug nuts. He said to square up and try again. I did so. His comment to me… “They didn’t show you that on YouTube, did they?”
My brother needed to change a toilet seat and it was a debacle. He has no tools and the toilet is almost touching the vanity. It took 1 hour of swearing to get the job done. I gave him tools for Christmas.
Fixed my toilet. Now it makes funny sounds, but it works! Tip: don’t use those chlorine tablets in the tank. They dissolve that red valve at the bottom.

The trick isn’t calling the plumber. The trick is in getting the plumber to come to your house after you call.

Maybe you don’t need a plumber. Try a dietician instead.

There are no YouTube videos on how to find a useful YouTube video. :)

On a scale of 1 to 10, my handyman skill is about a 6. Make that minus 3 when it comes to plumbing.

First – know where to shut off the water. Of all plumbing issues, toilets are the simplest.

One piece of advice. When replacing toilets use one large and one small wax ring when you set the toilet. NEVER use foam. Foam has a life of 9 years.

Cut out this toon and paste it on your dad’s toolbox.

I think the colorist got it wrong; the arm holding the cell belongs to the guy in back. Otherwise, it makes no sense.

If you think you need that wrench you should definitely call a plumber.

Too bad Nixon isn’t around—he knew a number of Watergate plumbers (yes that is a very old reference!).
