For $1,000 I refuse to buy a smart phone that doesnât have a higher IQ than me! Anymore they donât make cell phones at all. They make pocket computers that have a phone app. My iPhone is a better camera then it is a phone.
The change to the new networks has forced a lot of folks to trade in old reliable flips for much more pocket computer than anyone needs or wanted. I got an iPhone because I have had an iPad for years, so most of the functions were a flat learning curve. What I had the most trouble with was figuring out how to use it as a phone! Not as intuitive as you would think.
Since you donât seem to be wearing a watch, Brutus, can we assume the watch is smarter than you, too.
I remember when PCâs first came out. They had very small memory circuits, maybe one or two kilobits. Now my watch has more memory than the first computers.
Most phones can be smarter than most people. Good news Brutus: if you donât learn how to use the new smart phone, then the phone may not be smarter than you!
Brutus, the new cars and trucks, computers, microwaves and smart tvâs are smarter than most people. Not to mention a new home hvac heating/cooling system operating instruction booklet! Need an electrical engineering background to understand it. This old country boy grew up with opening and closing windows and using an old Church hand cardboard fan. Still have Grandmaâs old Church fan with picture of Last Supper on it and New Bethel Church on back.
Iâm one of those people who loves getting a new phone every two years or so. I enjoy seeing whatâs different, and I love the figuring out how to operate the new features. I guess Iâm just a slave to technology, but itâs fun and challenging.
Cars do have a lot of technology. I recently leased a new one, and my dog showed me how to get out of 4 wheel drive. I left her alone in the car for 2 minutes (I never do that, but I had no choice that time) and when I went to turn the car on it said âtheft attempted.â She had been sitting in the driverâs seat when I got back. This all seems a bit techie for a beagle, but sheâs a smart one. I hope it was her trying to steal the car and not a stranger trying to steal a hunting dog â in 2 minutes.

Brutus could buy a dumb old flip phone and it would be smarter than he is.

Brutus has a point. He already has everybody telling him what to do, so why add a smartphone to his numerous antagonists.
