Once again Arlo just lays it on us, “Happy wife. Happy life.”

Of course Monet had quite a beautiful garden.

Does this mean that Arlo has escaped the dreaded “hobby” issue?

I must be a lot smarter than Janis. It only takes me a couple seconds with drawing implements and paper to see I don’t have any talent. Of course, Janis is only a picture on paper drawn by somebody with actual artistic talent.

My mother was very artistic, but she allowed the thought “I don’t have any artistic talent” to hamstring her abilities and eventually gave up on art, which was a pity.

Arlo always knows the perfect words to say.

True. His paintings of the garden are only pale reflections of them.

For a guy who only sold art supplies, Arlo knows a lot about the subject!

Arlo can be very perceptive and loving!

I was in Paris & visited Le Musee de L’Orangerie. It has a huge painting of Monet’s garden. It was a serene experience. The next day my significant other & I went Monet’s home & garden in Giverny. Monet’s comment about his garden was not entirely wrong

Beautiful gardens are art for all the world to enjoy….

There are many talented artist (and we should appreciate their works), but none can produce a painting or sculpture as beautiful as a single flower, whether it be a rose, or a dandelion.

Arlo, you are my hero.

I feel for Janis – I always had enough talent to make a decent picture but never enough to come close to what I pictured in my head.

We have a blue hydrangea just like in the last panel.

Whether you have talent or not does not matter in the slightest unless you attempt to develop it. Only if you attempt to develop it – and truly seriously work at it – will you ever discover if you have any talent.Last but not least, if you do seriously work at it, you will greatly develop whatever talent you do have. Somebody said the talent is 99% perspiration. They were underestimating that value.

Knowing the words to say or not say is a valuable asset.

(Obviously one I lack, but can admire in others.)

Artistic talent comes in many forms, Janis.

We have a blue plant like that. It’s very friendly. When I walk past it, I always say hello. You know: Hi Dranga!

Don’t go for perfection. That comes with time. And it’s been a few years since, so give yourself a break.

The famous impressionist Rich Little once said words to the effect “It’s not in my voice, it’s in my ears”. Visual art is not in using your hands, it’s in using your eyes.
