More lies from the ultra rightwing. They decided that their own disinformation organization, led by Fox, QAnon, et.al., was not working as well as they wanted it to, so they started claiming that the moderates and liberals must be lying. It’s called “projection”

Free speech is fine, and still protected. But if you’re going to spread disinformation, there need to be disclaimers letting people know when things are not verified facts.

Right now, the way social media algorithms work, sensationalistic disinformation has a leg up, while boring old facts have a leg down.

Something has to be done about it.

We’ve already seen an attack on the Capitol based on a completely false premise, which was spread and aided by social media. We need to continue to protect free speech, but we also need to protect Democracy from disinformation.

It doesn’t help that lately, the Republican party is becoming less and less interested in maintaining Democracy in America.

    From an AP report:

“A newly formed Disinformation Governance Board announced Wednesday will immediately begin focusing on misinformation aimed at migrants, a problem that has helped to fuel sudden surges at the U.S. southern border in recent years. Human smugglers often spread misinformation around border policies to drum up business.”

He goes on to say that it would take considerably MORE effort to AVOID noticing than to notice.

One of life’s little apparent paradoxes is that if you want to protect free speech then you must prohibit forms of speech that are intended to attack those who are practicing free speech.

It’s actually not that hard to wrap your mind around. If you WANT to wrap your mind around it, of course. Folks who ARE attacking free speech, of course, prefer that you NOT understand that necessity of course.

The lies I have been told by giant megaphone. Smoking is safe, water is pure, radiation won’t harm me, lead amalgam fillings are safe, who needs seat belts, hydrogenated vegetable oil is safer than butter. Plastics are wonderful, Tupperware, teflon coated frying pans.

And yet after so many years I still exist. Luck and genetics. My father is 103 and still breathing.

I am pointing out that some of us survive all these hazards. Some of us don’t. How that is figured out , I don’t know. Roll the dice and find out. What other choice do you have?

Just consider that my ancestors arrived by sail powered ships. You willing to risk your life on a sailing ship for weeks to get here? I am not that brave or crazy.

Perhaps it is just assumed by some that our ancestors had it easy. Far from easy. But they had it better than what they left behind.

    Serfs UP.

Dear Lisa, Rule #1 in ‘free speech’: Make sure everything you say or promote (or draw) is factual and true. Otherwise, it is hateful, lying, deceitful, manipulative, and in most cases bearing false witness. And free speech doesn’t give you the right to do that to others.

Of course, Lisa’s totally wrong…as usual.

The Disinformation Governance Board is a United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) board announced on April 27, 2022 during a 2023 budget hearing before the United States House Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security. Its aim is protecting national security by combating Foreign misinformation and disinformation. Specific problem areas mentioned include false information propagated by human smugglers encouraging migrants to surge to the Mexico–United States border, as well as Russian-state disinformation on election interference, the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, and COVID-19 vaccines. In a statement, the DHS said the board would “protect privacy, civil rights, and civil liberties” as part of its duties.

The ‘Disinformation Governance Board’ is just another fact-checker. Comparing fact checkers to each other would bring the truth closer. It will not be a requirement, not violate Freedom of Speech, but a tool for people to use as they wish to.

“You want free speech? Let’s see you acknowledge a man whose words make your blood boil, who’s standing center stage and advocating at the top of his lungs that which you would spend a lifetime opposing at the top of yours.” – The American President, 1995

what can you do with the congenitally dimwitted (hi! opspecial)? when presented with an accurate description of the board’s mission, his response is “fake news!” we’ve seen over and over again here that the woefully uninformed (hi! opie) are not in the slightest bit shy about constantly sharing all that they don’t know, forcefully and purposefully. if only they’d devote all that energy to something worthwhile…

Remember the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau? The agency from hell, led by the devil himself according to republicans even though its’ recovered billions for consumers. Misinformation can have lethal consequences, curbing public lies would actually be in the public interest, so naturally where money is involved the public interest takes a back seat.

Why do we need a Disinformation Governing Board? Why do we need to squelch free speech? Hmmm, Durham could have something to do with it.

Emails released (62 pages) by Durham detail extensive and early collusion between prominent members of the corporate media and Clinton operatives, Fusion GPS. The media parroted the Clinton Campaign talking points. WAPO, NYT, Reuters, Slate, WSJ, CBS, ABC, Slate and Yahoo News were enthusiastically participating in a scheme to frame an innocent man.

Durham revealed that the CIA knew 5 years ago that the data linking Trump to communications with Russia were false. The filings also show that Trump was spied on – after he was elected. Two participants in Clinton’s scheme have been given immunity.

A newly released email confirms the Burisma, the firm that gave Hunter a lucrative position on its board, paid a $7 million bribe to the Ukrainian prosecutor’s office. The email also confirms that Obama’s State Dept knew about the bribe. The author of the released email, State Dept official George Kent, testified at Trump’s impeachment. Kent never mentioned the explosive info from his email – info that would have cleared Trump. Emails also show that Hunter was directed by the head of Burisma’s board to stop the investigation into the Ukrainian Company.

Michael Morell, who now appears to have buyer’s remorse, conspired with four other former CIA directors to get Joe Biden elected. They falsely claimed in a highly publicized letter that emails on Hunter’s laptop were Russian disinfo. In short, five CIA directors successfully changed the course of a US Pres election. The domestic & geopolitical implications of their treachery are just beginning to be felt. -Epoch Times

Why do we need a DGBoard? Why do we need to squelch free speech? Hmmm, the media’s changing narrative on the Ukrainian Biolabs might have something to do with it.

The response to widespread reports of biolabs in Ukraine has gone from “Biolabs in Ukraine? That’s Russian propaganda” to “Ok, there are biolabs but they don’t contain dangerous pathogens” to “Ok, the labs may house virulent pathogens, but they’re not controlled by the US” to “Ok, the labs may be controlled by the US, but they’re just being used for research.”-Epoch Times

Can’t wait for the next narrative shift.

Why do we need DGB? Why do we need to squelch free speech? Hmmm, NIH emails revealed and whistleblowers may have something to do with it.

In June 2021, an American scientist, Jesse Bloom, approached NIH heads with startling info that he discovered a series of deleted viral sequences that appeared to prove that the COVID-19 outbreak started earlier than reported by Chinese authorities. His findings also meant that the virus could not have originated from the Huanan Seafood Market in Wuhan. When Bloom presented his data to NIH heads Francis Collins, Anthony Fauci, Kristian Andersen and Robert Garry, Bloom was immediately subjected to intense pressure to remove his findings from the public sphere. Immediately after the meeting with Bloom, Collins & Fauci embarked on a mission to hide Bloom’s findings. -Epoch Times

Why do we need DGB? Why do we need to squelch free speech? Hmmm, Durham’s confirmation of Brennan’s CIA notes may have something to do with it.

On July 28, 2016, CIA director John Brennan, briefed Obama on an intelligence bombshell: Vlad had approved a campaign to defeat or at least damage Hillary & help elect Trump.

The media used quotes from former intel officials describing Obama as deeply concerned and noting that Obama wanted as much info as fast as possible.

In truth, Brennan’s briefing was the exact opposite of what the media has reported. What Brennan actually briefed Obama on was info indicating that Hillary had approved a plan to tie Trump to Russia election interference “as a means of distracting the public from her use of a private email server.” - Epoch Times

Brings back memories of Lisa Page’s testimony that Loretta Lynch ordered FBI not to prosecute Hillary, the tarmac meeting, the alleged suicide of the reporter who broke the story, the note Lynch wrote to herself claiming everything Obama did was above board, Lisa Page’s text stating Obama “wants to know everything we are doing”, Comey, Strzok…

It’s all coming out folks and your Disinformation Governance Board can’t stop it.

Boy oh boy! This is why I try and stay neutral by not getting into any political discussions where it involves giving my opinion because I know and see a barrage of attacks coming from everywhere! And like I’ve always been saying, why all the Geneva Conference banter back and forth when this is only a cartoon! And like that national security advisor told Alec Baldwin in "The Hunt For Red October: “…I’m a politician which means I’m a cheat and a liar…”
