Somebody just lost his TV AND telephone privileges.

Or he was watching a PG13 movie.

Making money off of Calvin’s sickness sounds pretty genius.

You don’t find commercials like those anymore, am I right?

That is called learning.

$4 a minute. Even now that is expensive..

“Dad, why do live in this house instead of a bachelor apartment full of scantily-clad young women?”

It could be worse. That phone number could end up on the phone bill.

I read this underneath an ad for some online game called Queen’s Blade, changing between some anime girls and with the text: “Feel the fighting spirit surge and burst through yourBeautiful Warriors’ tight armors.” For whatever it’s worth, it’s 7:45am here in Norway right now. No, I’m not going to click it.

Busted! In more ways than one……

Her second question: “You didn’t call that number, did you?”

Calvin asks a simple question and Mom bites his head off!!

Why doesn’t she make like June Cleaver and nag Dad (Ward) to bite his head off??

The more Calvin tries to understand the grown-up world, the more questions he faces.

As Snoopy wrote in one of his novels in the Peanuts strip, “He wanted answers. He found only questions.”

I’ve wondered that too!

The last panel hit too close to home.

The way things are going, it wouldn’t surprise me if they did have commercials like that during Saturday morning cartoons.

Calvin could have thrown Dad under the bus by saying he saw Pops scribble down the phone number once, that could be payback for all the times he has told Calvin to do mundane and boring things because they build “character”……

“What makes them ‘goofy’, son?”

Occasionally, I see commercials for ‘ladies that will tell your future’ that are scantily clad for which I change channels ! ! !!

Great, Calvin…now you’re going to have your TV watching monitored!

Calvin should have asked Dad, at least his answers are entertaining.

Ask a dumb question… :D

During a cartoon show? Let me guess…the “goofy ladies wearing underwear” looked like Betty Boop, Aunt Fritzi of Nancy (Guy Gilchrist version) or a Varga Girl.

Four dollars is more than Calvin can afford. Especially if he doesn’t have access to certain ID numbers.

Dad was watching it.

Spoiler alert Calvin, none of the ladies who answer the phones actually look like the ones in the ads.

In a few years, Calvin will understand…. LOL.

Don’t really know where to go with this one … without leaving clues for inquiring young minds.

Classic lying Calvin traits in the third panel; finger up to his mouth, rolling eyes, and “um” and “uh” in his sentence. But it WOULD be funny if they showed such commercials during a morning cartoon block!

um, by-the-way, what was that number?

Back in the late ‘80s-early ’90s I was taping the old “Wyatt Earp” series off of WGBF in Philly (Channel 57). The commercial breaks were all for telephone chatting with women. This was at 4-5 AM and I wasn’t there to keep the commercials out so they’re still on those tapes. There’s still a Ch. 57 but the programming is less interesting and I don’t get it reliably.
