That’s me for sure. I’m usually up at 4am and ready for a nap about 5 hours later. My wife usually gets up about 9am. By then I have all the chores done.
Is great that Arlo is nice about their circadian rhythm differences. Can be so stressful, especially if either get judgmental about the other being “lazy” for not waking up early to drink coffee or staying awake to watch TV.
Anyone else find that given the opportunity, you’d break up your sleep and awake hours across the day and night? Cat hours instead of early bird or night owl.
You’re awake ahead of sunrise and always see sunset, but it’s more like you break your REM time across multiple naps instead of one sleeping period?
I slept in until 4:43 this morning! Fed the dogs, made coffee. At 6:30 I’ll wake up my wife so she can grab a bathrobe and head upstairs to her office.
Same as my ex. He was always up with the cows (no pun intended as he worked on a dairy farm) by 4:00 am. He never got over this pattern so 44 years later he still gets up no later than 5:00 am EST. We now live on opposite side of the country but talk on the phone often. I’m usually just getting going and his day is half over but we still find time to talk on the phone often.
We get up together. Neither of us is a morning person and since he quit his job about 15 years ago we no longer generally need to get up at any particular time unless we have a reenactment event, I have to go to a client, I have an embroidery chapter meeting or we are on a trip. Since the pandemic started we have gotten much worse – mostly due to me. I am now on “Meryl” time as matches my body’s rhythms – it is currently 1:45 am. Sometime between 2 and 3 am he will come down here to the kitchen and we have our third meal of the day “late night snack” (replacement for breakfast). We will be in bed and going to sleep around 4:30/5 am – it will take me until 6 am to fall asleep, so he will wake up about an hour before I do and watch TV in bed and I will wake around 1 pm. We dress, have lunch and start the day.
He will be up before me and start dressing first – I will be finished dressing and downstairs making lunch before he finishes dressing by about 15-20 minutes.
Only time it may take me longer to dress than him is if we are dressing in 18th clothing for a reenactment event – I have to tie and (straight) pin my clothing closed – and I need his help to tie my apron closed in the back, and even with all of this I am generally sitting downstairs having packed with what we need for the day and waiting for him to come down and tie my apron for me.

Arlo should have taken the hint, maybe she wanted to undress but not get dressed.

They switched coffee cups. Yesterday Janis was using the brown cup and wearing a teal robe and Arlo was drinking from the green cup.

I never know if I’ve got a lot to do until I think about what I didn’t get done. There’s always tomorrow.

Arlo gets more done before 6 am, than most people do all day.

With two new puppies, we both get up at 5:30, we drag butt till 7, eat breakfast, and finally get started on stuff by 8.

Not us, we are both up with the sun. No one can say we’re “wasting daylight”!
