In reference to Wanda’s snark in the 2nd panel. Those real life Stormtrooper cosplayers lucked out and actually got to play their part in the Disney+ series “The Mandalorian” due to the fact that for some reason Disney didn’t have enough actors with such suits for a particular scene. Disney smartly brought in the cosplayers who had their own suits and put them in the show. For any true Star Wars fan, it was definitely one of the true highlights of their life. I’m not into cosplay but even I was a bit envious. Good for them.

Why be a stormtrooper when you can be Jabba? or a Wookie?? or a rolling trashcan???

I have red headed twin daughters. Many times one of them would cosplay as Amy Pond. As a doctor I had to go as The Doctor. The craziest time was when one went as Ranma-chan and the other as Akane (How she got that wig I don’t know). And I was going to go as Tendo. But no, I had to go as Panda. We took second place in the group category. I lost at least 5 pounds.

I think I’ll pass…

So sand isn’t the central theme? Wouldn’t cosplayers dress as Sand Witches and Sand Worms? A guy in a horse head with his name tag as Nameless?

Sorry, but as a frequent Comic-Con attendee, I do tire of these stereotypes. Cons attract all ages, genders, body types, etc. Yes, there are plenty of types of the folks Wanda is talking about (and what’s wrong with that?), but there are also plenty of folks that don’t fit that stereotype. This gag is tired and low hanging fruit.

Call me sensitive, but I guess I’ve just heard it too many times and I’m tired of the stereotype.

I did not know what that desert.con is.

I love the idea of dressing up as a superhero, but I couldn’t stand being one of those types. I’d have to go as The Blob.
