Never forget.

Thank you for remembering the true reason for “Decoration” Day. I decorated 13 graves and put flags for an uncle who served in the Navy, another uncle who was in the Army, a third uncle who was in the Army Air Corps and survived the Bataan death march, an aunt who was a WAC, and a family friend who was a Marine.

I put a little flag on the kitchen window grate. My last one disappeared.

I just realized that was a poppy that Gimpy is offering. The VFW used to give out paper poppies in exchange for donations. I haven’t seen any in a long time. Perhaps I’m just missing the areas where they are being offered.

Lovely tribute, T!I think I mentioned this before somewhere on here, but my mother was a LT. in the Army Nurse Corp. She rode the hospital trains and worked at Walter Reed Army Hospital. She met Jimmy Doolittle and Eleanor Roosevelt.
