One thing we do buy from Amazon is disposable diapers. We ordered so many that Amazon called us and asked us if we were running a daycare center business. We told them we were buying them for our church: they are part of our food pantry and meals that we deliver to the community. Amazon now gives us a business discount.
My garage is sometimes full of diapers. I load them onto my pickup truck, transport them to the church where we break the boxes open and repackage them for distribution.
If I need it fast or can’t find it elsewhere, I go to Amazon but they are not always the cheapest, just well stocked. I do like the low/no shipping fees, tho. Frustrating when a shipping fee is greater than the product itself.
A couple of years before he died, I got a birthday gift for my dad that he really appreciated. He had told me there was a Glen Miller song that he really liked that he hadn’t heard for a long time, and he couldn’t find anywhere. Every Glen Miller Collection that he found, didn’t include it. I found one Collection on Amazon that had it. It was 2 CD Images you downloaded and “burned” onto blank CDs. It really pleased me that I was able to do that for him…
I have a Wish List a mile long, so there’s always something I want from Amazon. However, if I bought everything I want from that site, I’d be bankrupt, so willpower kicks in, and I don’t, for example, order that gorgeous Tiffany-style chandelier.
I asked an employee at Wally World to get an item off of the top shelf for me. She replied “Have you ever thought about ordering it from Walmart.com?” Yes this actually happened I said “no I drove to the store because I wanted it today”. But I was thinking “Yeah I thought about ordering it…from AMAZON!”.
In 2021, due to the pandemic my child gave me a year’s subscription to Amazon so I could shop from home. She did her best to keep me safe and I really appreciated her help. However, it was her baby who gave me covid. No one knew he had it. I was mildly sick for 4 days. I isolated for 3 years and got sick in my own living room babysitting an infant. I went into a hospital once or twice a week with my therapy dog and have never come home from there with any illness. I do wear a good mask faithfully and actually cover my nose with it like I am supposed to. I get irritated seeing people wear them just below their noses. Like that, they are not wearing a mask at all. It’s a respiratory illness. Yesterday my dog and I went into the ER for the first time since covid. I remember seeing people lined up down the hallway to the ER every Sunday. It was pretty empty yesterday, relatively speaking. I think we will be adding it to our usual rounds again.
I order from Amazon at least twice a week, mostly for tools and supplies for whatever project is going on here, plus personal staples. We live on the edge of nowhere and are grateful for the service. Amazon Prime is a real bargain for savings on shipping, streaming TV and movies, Kindle books, and other media.

Most days I don’t. But when I can’t find what I want within 50 miles of me or within a week, I’ve been known to turn to Amazon.

My Amazon pet peeve: Having to decline Amazon Prime every time I order something!
I’m sure others will disagree but, I think it’s a rip-off.
