may we all get through this gas price crisis

Walk, bike, bus or carpool. You know, like our politicians.

These days that could include Cadillacs or even Rolls Royces.

If such a vehicle can actually be driven, then the plugger is a genius mechanic, and many of them are, by 1960s auto standards.

Prefer older vehicles because I do not want all the electronic junk that is put in the new vehicles ;-)

Doubtful. Any car is worth what it costs to replace it with another one.

I have a 2004 van. Occasionally I compare “fair value” to actual selling prices. Last time I checked, people were getting three times the former and the gap continues to grow.

In some civilised parts of the USA that vehicle would be impounded for being a gross polluter.

And the sound system isn’t worth more than the vehicle.

And the young generation drive cars that are worth less than the wheels and tires it rolls on, the sound system that is destroying their hearing, and the “buzz-bomb” muffler on the exhaust.

For many years my family had 5 cars so hopefully 3 of them were functional at one time. My tools were probably worth more than any 3 of the cars. Now I buy new every three years. I always have a payment, but I also have a warranty and no surprises.

May all cars go electric and no more dependable on fossil fuels.

That can be said of MANY cars nowadays!

Well, these days is anything worth more than the fuel in the tank?

We have an Equinox – they should have been recalled for new engines – and not just replacements of the engines in them with same again – but Chevy has played games and the problem is not being resolved. Ours had started making “the noise” so it will be dying soon.

We have been looking for a replacement car. Even discounting that few cars are available to buy, we can’t find cars which meet our needs. We need a car large enough to fit 3 people (husband, my mom and me) and mom’s wheelchair, which has lower step in (for mom) and is not huge/expensive and will last.

Right now we never know when we go out if the car will make it home – a lot of fun when picking up mom in the next county and taking her to doctors.

Car is a 2012. Our 1994 Astro van is more reliable, but mom can’t get in and out of it.
