I will stick with “big bird-thing with the leathery wings”.

Humans naming animals is all fine and well. I wonder what my dog named me?

A British friend tells of when he first brought his wife to Canada: “Oh, look at that beautiful red-winged black bird. What do they call it?”

I took French in high school. It’s a lot easier than in English. You’ve made a mistake in grammar if it doesn’t sound right. Also things are spelled exactly as they are pronounced except for those words the French borrowed from English.

For me, the greatest invention since the wheel is spell check.

What possible reason is there for putting a “P” in that word?

Why can’t you hear a pterodactyl use the bathroom? Because the pee is silent.
