My proof is the Declaration of Independence itself. Jefferson wrote it in a deliberate manner, to prove to the other nations of the earth AND THEIR LEADERS, (the King of Spain, the King of France, the Tsarina of Russia and so on) that we did not want to bring down THEIR nations.
Their experiment, democracy WORKED. It was difficult, but it worked.
We cannot, like Ramirez, give up hope in that experiment. It needs to continue and to grow.
We must push for liberal, progressive thinking in America. We cannot slump back into the world of haves and havenots of the 18th century, where the wealth was pooled and concentrated among the “nobility” and that because they were the nobility they had the right to rule us.
Democracy is MORE than a political party. It means that ALL of us have value and meaning. That I can tell Donald Trump or Joe Biden that he is a fool and he is wrong.
We have seen both men. If I were to tell Trump that he was an idiot he’d shout me down, have me arrested, and throw every lawyer he has at me. If I were to tell Biden the same thing he’d want to sit and talk and he would listen to me. This is why I will support a man like Biden EVERY-TIME over a man like Trump. Until someone better came along. Not because Biden is a Democrat, but because he is democratic.

Instead of a Universal Basic Income, how about a guarantee that everyone can get a decent job that pays well? Up here in Canada we have Universal Health Insurance, and it works pretty well, so I don’t see the problem. And why not have universal access to free post-secondary education—college or apprenticeships? That would benefit individuals and the society at the same time.
