TRUTH! There is a house south of San Francisco some fella built in the 1970s from molded concrete that looks very much like that. It has passed through several owners. The latest associated it with cartoon characters and has statues and decorations representing them now. It once was just someone’s normal home. You can see it from the 280 freeway headed north. Search YouTube for “Flintstone house”.

However, McMansions, while gaudy or overdone, certainly offer more visual interest than the prison-decor exteriors of modern condos and apartments now inundating central VA. Reminds me of the plans one could order from the need a quick, cheap condo plan? handbook. Cookie cutter stuff with stiff lines, dark red, white, gray slab siding, lovely tinfoil trim, and facade of stacked crates. Stone ugly.

But, at my age, lots of stuff fits those descriptions, and I just try to live with it.

Before hitting up Hollywood, start with politicians, lobbyists and the millions of BRIBE a money they rake in to vote in their favor instead of We the peoples favor!

Crooked politicians = crooked “bought and paid for” government!

McMansions were often built in subdivisions in the suburbs, with many McMansions making up a neighborhood. The name was derived from McDonald’s because the homes were often mass-produced, overscale, and were constructed with cheap, homogeneous materials. These are only upper middle class people in debt up to their A**. They are not the real rich, but just wannabees.

This place must be occupied by one of the record company execs who got wealthy when the Dunghill Records label got bought out.

You call that a McMansion? It looks like it only has a one wheel garage. A real McMansion would have a three or four wheel garage.

Yeah. Housing is relative. There are legitimate mansions that many politicians, celebrities, and billionaires multiply for themselves. There are McMansions that are mansions in some respect, but have some kind of appearance of wealth but aren’t really fine architecture.

However, it’s all relative. We can all poke fun of the McMansions or even the finer mansions. We can complain about the wealthy. Here’s the thing, wherever we are, most of us want something better or demand that everyone live like us as though our choices epitomize the moral high ground.

Should we all be living in shotgun houses? This has been the standard of living of poor people in New Orleans. Elon Musk lives in a tiny house that is smaller than a shotgun house. I don’t think he believes that everyone should be living in tiny houses, but there are people who live in tiny houses who think that everyone should live in a tiny house. (There are people who live in mansions that think that everyone should live in a tiny house. Figure that out.)

I once visited someone in perhaps the world’s smallest tiny house in India (though a cardboard box would probably be smaller). The lady lived in it with her husband and son. They had a chest of drawers that took up half of the house. She entered and sat down. My traveling companion entered and sat down. I sat in the doorway because there was no other room. Our translator translated from outside. Should this be the standard, or should we demand that people who live in one-room homes in India get shotgun homes? It would be an upgrade for them. There are generally people poorer than you, and many of them think you owe them something. There are generally people richer than you, and many of them think you owe them something. Who do you think owes you?

Tell you what. I will sell my companies, take only enough money for my family to live on for 30 years, and donate the rest to the government. I will tear down the buildings that used to host my companies and sell the land, sell my homes, and move to Mexico, and you can tell the 4000 plus people why they are out of a job and they are paying more for things they need. I will give the 90 day notice on Monday. Then I won’t need to put up with any more of stupid people yelling about the rich, instead of the true ones to blame, like Al Gore, Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, Nancy Pelsoi, Elizabeth Warren, AOC to name a few.
