Wow! He’s expensive! Back in the 70s, when this was first published, I got one dollar for washing dad’s car.

If I remember my summer job in 1975 paid a minimum wage of $2 an hour. So if Charlie is only going to charge $5 that means he will wash the car for 2 and a half hours! That must be a really dirty car!

I hope he comes with a “money refunded if not satisfied” clause!

It is my understanding that the purchasing power of the dollar was huge in the early ’70s. You could feed a family of 4 for a week on $20. So $5 for a car wash seems a bit steep.
