Coming Soon đ At the beginning of April, youâll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
Finally, we get names! âThorinâ is very Norse (meaning âthunderâ or âbrave oneâ), similar to the god, Thor. The best-known âThorinâ character is a character in The Hobbit trilogy.
âLiskaâ also has a West Germanic feel to it. In Old High German, it meant âsedgeâ or âreed,â but I think itâs just a name here without special meaning.
Is this the same guy who caused Tracy all the strife years ago ? Â I thought Dick was going to ask about contacting So-Ray and was pleasantly surprised that now these Moonies have a handle.
Tolkien took the name Thorin from a list of dwarf names in the Norse Elder Eddas (as well as the other dwarf names and Gandalf). The mighty Google tells me that âLiskaâ is Czech for âfox.â
So, allowing for an adjusted timeline (Not âLinearverseâ time â look it up) Dick has known Thorin for 15 years and just now getting to know his name now?! Mike fixing an oversite of Chetâs :)
1-MRS. GOVADOR: Good morning, Tracy. I didnât know you were here.
DT: HOLY SCHNIKEEE! DO MOON PEOPLE OFTEN GREET VISITORS IN THE NUDE?!?!
2-âŚNot that Iâm complaining heh heh. Itâs the hottest Iâve been since getting here. Give us a spin, girl. Letâs see if the trunk is as large as the headlights!
GOVADOR: Get dressed, dear. Earthlings are ashamed of their bodies. And understandable so from what Iâve seen.
3-MRS. GOVADOR: There. Is that better?
DT: Not better but less disconcerting, Mrs. Govador.
MRS. GOVADOR: Please. Call me Thorn.
DT:do NOT make a prik joke. do NOT make a prik joke. do NOT make a prik joke. do NOT make a prik joke.
I WOULDNâT MIND PRICKING MY FINGER ON THAT THORN! -dang it!
Ken in Ohio about 3 hours agoAbsolutely, on the point concerning Tracyâs breath in the Govassadorâs home. But your original comment appeared to be directed at my comment
It was in response to your comment which I took as a 2 day comparison.
In light of how I interpreted your comment my opinion is correct.
It doesnât really matter since weâre dealing with opinions.
I donât have insight into Shelleyâs thoughts as sheâs illustrating the strip so I could be wrong, I acknowledge that. However Tracyâs breath should have been visible yesterday despite attempts to prove otherwise.
Whatâs disturbing is the apparent Mission Impossible you and Neil are engaged in to âProve Me Wrongâ.
âWheeeeeeeee-OOOOOOOOOOH, all you hip cats and Super Swell Swingers out there with your ears on in Terrific Tracy Town! The atmosphere in New Moon Valley is really chillinâ but thatâs okay, âcause we here at the Big, Brassy BMBG have the Completely Crazy âCoolâ tunes for you to groove to â and your Dashing, Dynamic Deejay, JPuzzle The Whiz, is just the Great, Groovy Guy to spin âem! So, while Our Hero âgets to knowâ his hosts better, why not give a listen to this!â
Names!! :D Also I really like Tracysâ expression in panel 2, itâs so very earnest â heâs not just detective-ing, he really wants to know! And so do we! But this is a comic strip so introductions have to be done âon screenâ, somehow, no matter how awkward! Tracysâ expression helps a lot to make it feel more natural though. Yeah :D
I guess since Tracy and Ambassador last saw each other, a wedding took place in Moon Valley. Theyâre family yet Tracy never got an invitation. Not exactly what one can call a âclose familyâ.
âI am Thorin, son of Thrain, son of Thror, King under the Mountain!â I thought that sounded familiar â one of the dwarf kings of Tolkienâs Middle Earth.

Seems kind of weird for him to ask their names and for her to answer with her husbandâs name.

Holy mackerel, Tracy fans! Mike has heard our plea and given these Lunarians names!
Welcome, Ambassador Thorin (formerly Moon Governor Thorin)! Welcome Mrs. Ambassador, Liska (formerly, Moon Granny)!
Wow! Oh, what a relief it is! At last, both Tracy and we know.
Meanwhile, plot progress remains a tad bogged down, with fillerâwelcome filler, to be sureâholding our cozy familial gatheringâs attentionâŚ.
