I don’t see why Calvin can’t get along with the monsters. He’s pretty much a monster himself.

Both impossible options, you two.

“It’s hard to co-exist with things that want to kill you” is a quote I’m surprised I haven’t seen more often.

Throw a bunch of thumbtacks under the bed. The monsters will jab themselves, scream, and run away.

Too bad Harry Potter isn’t around to show him some tricks.

A sure fire solution

Easy. See, we had a sword in the house. And I very ostentatiously jabbed and slashed under every bed, and then said “Alright. I just killed all the monsters. You’re safe now.”

You have a tiger in bed with you, Calvin. Anyway, maybe said tiger could eat said monsters.

File this conversation under “Things that Make Mom Nervous.”

Calvin’s idea reminds me of the guys who use a blowtorch to kill a spider and set their house’s on fire.

Yes, that’s actually a thing.

I doubt that one could set a bed on fire without burning the house down. But it might kill those pesky monsters due to smoke inhalation. Unless of course they got their protective masks handy for such an emergency, that is….

Maybe an exorcism would be safer.

Hobbes’ observation in panel #3 is an accurate description of world affairs today.

Night light?

We will have to remove them.

Hmm. and tigers eat people… Calvin has more to worry about than monsters under the bed!

I always went to sleep with the lights on and the door ajar, and I don’t remember any monsters ever trying to eat me. Maybe Calvin should try that.

That’s why Night-Lights were invented.

And yet people all over the world are doing it everyday!

Hobbes is being a little more realistic here.

Perhaps a flashlight left on under the bed would deter the nasties?

Well Calvin does sleep with a tiger curled up next to him.

In fact, why not just imagine the monsters to be no match for Hobbes? That could be fun.

Hobbes is a gem… Love him.

Hobbes needs to release his inner “fierce Tiger”.

Panel 1 makes me feel sorry for Calvin.

When I was a kid, I put a light under the bed. It kept the monsters away and the extra-large blanket kept the light contained. :)

He could just fill the underside of his bed with stuff so there’s no room for the monsters.
